"Alan Askew. George Bush Republican."
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 11:06 PM by Fenris
As if Askew had not made himself repellent enough with his accusation that Pat Rose violated his oath to uphold the Texas constitution when he and the other Democrats with half a spine fled to Ardmore in a fruitless effort to stop Delay's Machiavellian redistricting plan, his latest campaign commercial identifies the prospective state representative as a "George Bush Republican" who will "stand up for Texas values." Askew is not even shown in the commercial, only his silhouette against a setting sun is, which is remarkably reminiscient of old Marlboro cigarette adds. I found the image sort of menacing, in a sort of "Alan Askew your friendly neighborhood Klansman" way.

1. I saw that ad...
does Rose have a negative ad out towards Askew? The only Rose ads I have seen have been about Rose and don't even mention Askew.

2. Nah. Rose is keeping it clean.

Askew's only qualification seems to be that he is a "George Bush Republican." I mean, his ad didn't really talk about him at all...mostly just talked about how awful Pat Rose is. Must be required in the Republican party that you run on how evil your opponent is.

3. Why do all Texas politicians wear cowboy hats in their ads?
It seems like a requirement to run for office here, the cowboy hat.

And if it were up to me the legislature Democrats would still be in Oklahoma/New Mexico. Thanks a lot Senator Quitmire!

I think it's mostly the Rethugs who like to play dress up.
