Two former regents say Perry allies pressured them to resign
Both cite their support of Perry opponent, Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Two former Texas Tech University System regents said Friday that allies of Gov. Rick Perry's pressured them to resign after their support for Perry's political rival — U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison — became public.

One of the former regents, Windy Sitton, said that Scott Dueser, then chairman of the board, told her last year that the governor's office had said for Sitton "to cease and desist supporting Kay Bailey immediately or resign from the board." She said that she did neither. Perry replaced her this year after her term expired.

(snip)
Perry has also been linked to controversy at the Texas A&M University System.

Some legislators criticized Perry this year for moving money from one of his economic-development funds into another fund to give an unusually large grant to the A&M System for a pharmaceutical manufacturing center.

"We are shocked and dismayed to hear that Perry is yet again playing politics with Texas' universities," Hutchison spokesman Jeff Sadosky said. "Here we were thinking he only used A&M as his political playground."

I'm shocked I tell ya, shocked! :sarcasm:

Perry playing politics as usual. :eyes:

1. sorry
but I still can't think of an agency in Texas that does NOT do this kind of political stuff. My kids go to TTU. They also brought in Gonzalez, remember? Did you know they want Connie Rice to speak at the law school commencement? I hear neither idea goes over with the students - but who cares about the students, right?

3. Good point
What Perry really means he's against any Democrats using schools for any reason. Republicans are free to buy as much of anything they want - influence, speech, real estate, air, water, advertising etc on schools or students. :P

4. Even alot of Texas Aggies think Perry is a joke. He's kidding himself
if he thinks all the TAMU alumni are giving him their votes. He screwed over the new TAMU president last year, too, using his buddy, the chancellor.

Rick PErry is a piece of shit.

5. Perry: I had nothing to do with Texas Tech regent’s resignation

Perry: I had nothing to do with Texas Tech regent’s resignation

Gov. Rick Perry said today that he wasn’t involved in Mark Griffin’s decision to resign from the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.

Griffin said last week that shortly after he showed public support in August for Perry’s political rival, Kay Bailey Hutchison, he got a call from Perry’s former chief of staff saying that the governor expects loyalty from appointees. Griffin said he resigned not long after that call.

“All that board activity was his decision,” Perry said of Griffin. “We didn’t have anything to do with it. I didn’t talk to anybody.”

In my best Joe Wilson impersonation "Liar!"

Who is going to believe Perry had "nothing" to do with any of those resignations? :eyes:
