URGENT!! An Overvoting trap will cost a Kerry vote |
|
People in Texas are voting for both Kerry and the Libertarian candidate listed underneath his name. The Libertarian's name is follwed by (LIB)
In early voting lines, voters have asked if the (LIB) on the sample ballot means 'Liberal'.
Votes will be (and I have every reason to believe they already have in early voting) lost their precious vote due to selecting both the (LIB) and Kerry.
Ironically, e-voting won't allow you to select both.
PLEASE PLEASE check your ballot BEFORE you mark it. Make sure you select Kerry and NOT the (Lib) candidate when you mean to vote for Kerry.
PLEASE PLEASE pass this on for Tuesday.

1. It seems to me that people should be smart |
|
enough to figure that out themselves. If they're planning on voting for Kerry, they should be able to figure out that his name isn't next to the (lib) notation. That's simple common sense. If people can't figure that out, maybe they shouldn't be voting!

4. No, I don't think so at all. |
|
Why the hell would you vote TWICE for the same damned office? Shouldn't you be smart enough to figure that out????? If people can't figure something simple like that out, then they shouldn't be voting. This isn't a case of voting arrows not pointing to the correct name, or ballots being too confusing for even college profs to figure out as happened in Florida in 2000. This is simple common sense.

6. What do u think everyone in this country is |

Literate or maybe they suffer from dyslexia or other medical issues. I guess your really saying that only educated people should be allowed to vote.

(and I have a learning disability myself, a severe one, so NO ONE can accuse me of insensitivity or lack of caring and consideration in that regard), and people with "medical issues" are smart enough to know not to vote TWICE for the SAME OFFICE!
It has nothing to do with being educated. A lot of "educated" people are pretty dumb and plenty of "uneducated" people are very smart. But anyone with more than a few brain cells should be able to figure out that you don't vote twice for the same office and that, if your candidate's name isn't next to it's party's notation, then that's not who you vote for.

"If people can't figure that out, maybe they shouldn't be voting!" the situation is obviously confusing to some including the person that made the original post. That person is a voter for Kerry and she is worried that someone might get confused. You think if they arent smart enough to figure it out they shouldnt vote. I think thats a shitty attitude when the original poster is just concerned that someone might get confused but you are obviously more concerned with the persons congnitive powers to discern that more than one person is being picked OK so be it. U win mrs. liberal <smirk>

7. Really, Kerry supporters are smarter than that |
|
I know Repugs like to think otherwise but I can't really imagine that more than an extremely small fraction of voters would be confused by this.

9. It happened more than you might think it should |
|
Also, people might have been thinking that there was a new race after Kerry's name with just the (LIB) in the race. We had a lot of one person races - that is, someone running without an opponent.
