A favor, my wonderful Texas friends! Let's have the info!
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2587076

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local Texas businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

I'll start:

BAD:
* There's a BBQ place in Rowlett on Dal-Rock Rd (I'll verify the name-- I think it's a Sonny Bryan's) that's been on my shit list for a few months since they put a Bush/Cheney sign out front a few weeks ago.

* A place called Oma's Sandwich Shop that's at Highway 66(Forest) and Garland Rd. in Garland. Also Repug supporters. And it's a shithole anyway.

* Debbie at the Regis Hairstylists in Collin Creek Mall gave a decent perm, but listened to KLTY (Christian station) the entire time! Had little flags everywhere. It was obvious I picked the wrong stylist.

GOOD:
* The Golden Chick in Royse City (east of Rowlett) on I-30 is owned by a good Democrat!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

I'm fortunate to still be using scantrons and pencils.

The Republicans get money to run all their attack ads from somewhere. I intend to help strangle some of that money. You do what you want.

* Ruby's Barbeque on Guadalupe donated a lot of their great food to one of our Kerry houseparties.

* Live Oak Brewery donated a keg to our houseparty and another to the Austin4Kerry hospitality suite election night. They even managed to sneek it past the Driskill Hotel security. How? "We have our ways," was all they would tell us.

* Pizza Nizza opened early on Sunday and the owner and his daughter made a bunch of pies to feed Democracy for Texas before our last big block walk

to find that Llano has a lot more progressive folks than you would think. I have a Dean; Kerry/Edwards; be patriotic/vote Bush out; Regime change 2004; and other Dem stickers on my truck.

These stickers have gotten some good response out here.

Also, the Llano Buz (locally owned newspaper) carries a column by a local Democrat that goes by the moniker "The Old Libber" (as in LIBERAL) which has had some good stuff.

There is an antique dealer by the bridge on Hwy 16 in Llano run by a Dem whose husband had a letter to the editor in the Buzz about what a moron Bush was in the first debate.

Also, Dodd's Family Tree Nursery in Fredericksburg is owned by Democrats who had a Kerry Edwards sign up. Though we shop there anyway, we make a point of it now and let them know why - last time I was there I bought a hanging succulent called "Donkey's Tail."

They sure do have some goooood home cookin' there. But I've been boycotting because of all the Repuke signs in there and the Clinton bashing cartoons on the wall, so it's been a number of years since I've been there. I should do an undercover operation to see if that's still the case.

I'm already boycotting the last 3 (got Working Assets for phone).

And when our bus driver to Iowa (DFA) wanted to stop at a Cracker Barrel in Oklahoma for lunch, I roused the entire bus, by saying, "On behalf of my brothers and sisters on this bus who are gay, I state that we will eat at other estaurants but NOT Cracker Barrel, who discriminate against my FRIENDS!" :-)

We went to Mickey D's, which wasn't much better, but it was Oklahoma, ya know?

25. Suggestion
When you get this list put together, why not send it out to all the county parties and clubs? You could email it OR I'll donate some stamps to mail it.

I live in the boonies but I would be willing to suggest some local small businesses if you're passing through. However, and here's the deal, everybody and I mean everybody goes to Austin. So having an Austin list would really help.

I think it's productive and neat that you're doing this. Lord, I'm so old that I still use the word "neat."

26. Cool!
I'm actually thinking of making it a nationwide thing. Bigger than just a list. More like a big ole phone book. And of course, in Texas, Austin is going to get the Lion's Share of the good attention. But WHATEVER you have, give it to me. Boonies or no boonies.

I don't know how into it Dancing Bear is, but I'd like it to be large scale-- professionally printed, charge maybe $5-$10 a copy, and add as much information as we can by state AND nationally.

We could market this all over the internet, Smirking Chimp, and lots of other liberal Websites. And if businesses are included, let them have copies to try to sell.

It might be a good idea to send a flyer out to each county Dem and Green HQ and have the members brainstorm for experiences they had or businesses that they each know about to add to the list.

Thanks for adding to the mix, JJ! :D

36. Costco is good.
I understand that Costco gave all their political donations to Democratic candidates. They're big box, but they're better for the local community than Sam's Club. Costco actually pays a living wage, has benefits, doesn't discourage unionizing, etc.

Gallerie Jewelers on 35th & Jefferson keeps/kept a photograph of * hanging on the wall. This was in January '02, and we haven't returned since. Despite a great start, ultimately they gave us very poor service. We ordered our wedding rings through them, and he dropped the ball at every turn. We did finally get rings we were mostly happy with, and decided to just take our lumps and never return again.

If you don't have a dog, I'll bet you have friends or relatives who are hard to shop for, and you can always find something for them at Dogstuff.

The bush economy is taking its toll on us, so I love this idea of sympathetic business.

So are you just down the street from Stripling Blake? I haven't been by that area in a year or so.

Didn't know there was a new Lowe's over there (I grew up in Austin- moved there in 71, left in 94). Are you east or west side of Shoal Creek?

We could come by for a visit next time I'm down to visit my mom. And we can pick up some Pyr-oriented doo-dads for my baby.

49. Hate to see Bill Miller's listed here
Bill Miller's pays very well for the type of business, provides benefits and seems to have some care for their employees. They also do not display their political leanings in their store decor, although someone close to me who is in their employ would confirm that they are Republican leaning. I understand this type of thing for large corporations who really donate huge amounts of money and actively sway politicians, I am not so sure about doing this to smaller businesses, unless of course, they annoy the crap out of you by shoving it in your face. Bill Miller's doesn't qualify, IMO, on that count. Not to mention all of the Democrats in South Texas who are employed there. Just my couple of cents...

I forgot to mention that we own Onion Creek Boarding Kennels in Buda, too. That's just south of Austin for those who don't know.

Also, when they get home, I'll get a card from our neighbors. They are landscapers and were ardent Clark then Kerry supporters.

They live in Elgin, but do most of their work in Austin.

I'd bet money that the three Kerby Lane Cafes are good guys, and I know the Anderson Tea and Coffee people are, too.
They're in Jefferson Square on Kerby Lane between 35th and 38th.

Anderson's has the best fresh roasted coffee beans anywhere, and they are happy to mail it to you.

I get mine regularly once a month.

May I recommend the Sumatran, caff or decaff? Doesn't hit your stomach the wrong way, but is very rich.

And don't forget Citgo, which is generally Venezuelan oil for the benefit of schools and health in Venezuela, rather than the enrichment of Exxon, Shell and Texaco.

Since there is a book for fundy-owned businesses, is there anywhere we can get one in Texas? I would think that a lot of info. could be gleaned from that book. I, for one, would have a good idea where I do NOT want to spend my money. I seriously doubt any Texas fundy voted for John Kerry.

Anyway, I believe I saw a book like this (fundy-written) years back, but have no idea where to find one these days. Any ideas? I appreciate it! :hi:

53. Is this REALLY the right strategy?
I certainly appreciate the strength of the "Shop Democrat" sentiment. I myself would do so to an extent.

However, taken too far, this is just ideological segregation, which seems just as damaging to the nation as racial segregation is (even if Jim Crow and related laws have been swept aside for decades, that only got rid of LEGALLY ENFORCEABLE segregation, not the "in fact" voluntary segregation that still exists).

The result of ideological segregation? Well, we're starting to see the fruits of it already!!

*Communities even more divided than before.
*Neither sides understand the other
*Each side develop different meanings for the same words (this DEFINITELY is a disturbing trend already)
*Continued shrill distaste, even hatred, of people who voted for "The Other" - regardless of who that "Other" may be.

Given all this,is it any wonder that our country is so divided now? Carried on for another 30 to 50 years, this country will have no choice BUT to split up into separate nations in order to avoid another outright Civil War. Only this time it will be Blue-Red instead of strictly North-South. Hell, now it's at the point where a number of child-free people put down parents as "breeders" and even make up derogatory names for children (the ones coming to my mind now are way too vulgar for this board)!! Is this really the kind of society progressives ought to work for?

Yes, it IS painful at times to discuss politics, religion, etc. with people who don't agree with you. Doing a little extra shopping at Democrat is one thing, but DON'T FORGET TO MAKE CONNECTIONS TO THE OTHER SIDE!! I'm not being hysterical when we say "The Future of America depends on it!!!". A little irritation at others' beliefs now may save billions of gallons of blood a generation from now.

Sorry, but you want to continue the "date rape" scenario that we've been living with for years now.

I got news for ya.

IT AIN'T WORKING!

This is not IRRITATION at others' beliefs! It is horror at how they can so blatantly and carelessly toss away 200 something years of Democracy for greed and hatred. I for one will not stand for it.

The only thing these people understand is MONEY or the lack of it. We are hitting them where it hurts, and trying to alterantely make sure that our progressive neighbors are covered (if they want to out themselves in the book. But we also understand that others will not want to).

I'm not giving one more dime of my money, if I can help it, to someone who will just use it to hurt my family, my friends, and my way of life.

Fuck these people and the horse they rode in on.

They do the exact same thing, only they use our own government against us. They gerrymander districts to take away our voice and vote and they use illegal corporate money to do it. So FUCK them (the willing corporations) - big time. Money is all they understand and we have to starve them off. Don't shop with them, spread the news about how undemocratic and unpatriotic they are and buy progressive. We vote with our pocketbooks too.

For anyone who hasn't read DancingBear's thread here is one good link we can build on http://www.boycottbush.net/

For example if you need phone service use Working Assets. I dropped AT&T a long time ago and they still keep begging with checks for us to switch back. Fuck em!

Working Assets also provides cell phone service, not just land lines and they give money to progressive causes that you get to vote on.
You can also become part of their Flash Activist Network which allows you to make free faxes to decision makers each month. If you haven't switched yet - just do it.
http://www.workingassets.com/

Also on auto insurance, I'm researching this now but Progressive Auto Insurance is guess what - progressive.

Our government is responsive to "one dollar one vote" so we have to play that game too.

64. Thats right Jane, I had forgotten about that SOB Sager
For a refresher here are a couple of links to the Chronicle articles from last year.

http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2003-05-30/pols_feature10.html
Getting Sheared by Sager: It's On the (legal) Record
May 30, 2003
(snip)
On May 7, Travis Co. District Judge Suzanne Covington awarded over $330,000 in attorneys fees, court costs, and interest to the plaintiffs' attorney in the case of Josephine Johnson et al. v. Rainbow Group, Ltd. et al. The plaintiffs were 13 haircutters employed at Austin-area Supercuts in the late Eighties and early Nineties; Rainbow Group Ltd. et al. is an investment group whose general partner is Alan Sager, since 2000 also the chairman of the Travis County Republican Party.
(/snip)

http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2003-06-20/pols_feature3.html
June, 20, 2003
(snip)
On June 11, the latest stage in the lawsuit of Josephine Johnson et al. v. Rainbow Group Ltd. and Alan Sager began in the 126th District Court of Judge Darlene Byrne. As reported in the Chronicle May 30 ("Getting Sheared by Sager"), a decade ago a group of hairstylists sued Rainbow and Sager, their former employers through various Supercuts franchise stores in Austin, Tyler, San Angelo, and Abilene. (Sager is also a lecturer in government at UT and the chair of the Travis Co. Republican Party.)

The employees charged that during the period covered by the lawsuit (February 1988 through July 1993), during regularly scheduled working shifts they were routinely held "off-the-clock" by managers and effectively required to be at work and on call for hair-cutting -- for periods averaging several hours a week -- for no pay. In 1999, 13 former employees were awarded a total of nearly $60,000 in back pay and interest (finally paid in February of this year), and on May 7 the court confirmed an earlier judgment that Supercuts must pay the plaintiffs' attorneys fees as well.

---------------
Ah those repuke business ethics are just so compassionate, aren't they? Wonder if these workers finally collected on that money. I can't seem to find anything on this after the June '03 story.

It's possible that your local Curves may be "owned" by someone who thinks and votes and donates like you do, but has indebted themselves to Da Man. So sad.

Promised Land Dairies. I bought their milk "religiously" when I first moved to Texas, then I read the Austin Chronicle article about them and it nearly made me sick. I confess: Every once in a while I still buy a bottle of their flavored milks. I tell myself it's nice to know that even though PLD and I disagree about so many things, we do agree that our milk should be hormone-free and that it should come from happy cows.

Kind of like my relationship with my father-in-law, except we both love his son, not milk.

They were also part of the DeLay PAC scandal here in Texas, plus they just give millions to the repuke party period.

From what I can tell in my research it appears that even if you buy your liquor in Mexico (like I do) it goes into Bacardi USA coffers. Damn I was hoping they were buying from Cuba directly.

Bacardi embraces change in order to grow

The only area where Bacardi admits sales have softened is Latin America, due to economic and political problems in Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil.

But luckily, Latin America does not represent a major portion of Bacardi's sales. About 40 percent of corporate profits and close to 35 percent of sales comes from the Miami-based Bacardi USA, executives said. Bacardi USA sales last year reached almost $992 million, according to the Adams Liquor Handbook.

151. Looking at that link, Charles Butt really is a mixed bag.
I noticed that he consistently supported Martin Frost, Charlie Stenholm,Silvestre Reyes, Gonzalez, and other Democrat candidates, year after year. It seems he finds the ones he likes and sticks with them, regardless of party affiliation.

Also noticed the last time he is recorded to have donated to anyone for president is Lamar Alexander, and before that he donated to Poppy.

Nothing since Alexander, and I think that was 1996.

I was hoping he was not a straight up and down Repub supporter because I love Central Market. I have to believe that anyone who came up with an idea like Central Market can't be all bad.

I've found that HEB also donates to a lot of worthy causes, like Habitat for Humanity, Ecology Action (Austin-area recyling Center), and so on. I think that's enough to tip the scale in HEB's favor, even if their donations *are* 50/50. I think they're best described as, "centrist."

The point of the boycott is to PATRONIZE those who give to progressives and foster our causes.

If they support Bush or other Repubs, they're out. We don't care if they provide good service or sell good cars. We can find good progressive replacements for that.

If we give THEM money, they TAKE our money and use it to screw us. Where do you think they got the money to print that disgusting mailer? From your car repairs. And if they're doing well enough, it's going into Chimpy's war chest. Sorry, no go.

THEY didn't send a mailer/pic/flyer. They DID have the one that whoosh* sent out, the pic, on one of their shelves in the office. It was not blatant, but it was there, and did kinda upset me.

I see your point. In this particular situation, though, I cannot recommend boycott of their business. They are the most honest, caring, hard working mechanics I've EVER experienced. They told my ex-roommate that his car was too far gone, not worth repairing. That indicates integrity, no matter the disgusting pic of whoosh.

I'm gonna call them and ask if they donate to RWers. ;)

OR, Does anyone have the link to the donation list?

Obviously, she didn't take the job.

Weir's Furniture in Dallas- Fundie crap everywhere. In the store (Christian book nook, Thomas Kinkade paintings, etc), and on the Web site. I made the mistake of going in the one on Knox one day while out shopping. Guck! Avoid! 127. Report on IHOP--they're good!
I thoroughly searched IHOP's main web site and opensecrets because it is my husband's favorite restaurant (yeah it really is).

I found that the owners and the chairman of the board are all big Kerry/Dem contributors.

There were just three IHOP chains nationwide that gave political contributions (they are franchises, so allowed to, I guess) and here is where they are located (none in TX):

http://www.opensecrets.org/indivs/search.asp?NumOfThou=0&txtName=IHOP+&txtState=%28all+states%29&txtZip=&txtEmploy=&txtCand=&txt2004=Y&txt2002=Y&txt2000=Y&Order=N

Also the parent company, IHOP Corp., apparently doesn't give any political contributions to anyone, or hasn't in 2000, 2002 or 2004.

So barring some new information, or unless you go to those IHOP franchisees I gave a link to, IHOP's good!

YAY!

128. Pizza Report and Other Restaurants Report!
Papa John's:

Darnit. The owner, John Schnatter, is a huge republican and has given tons to the RNC. His franchisees don't seem to give political contributions, nor do any seem to come from the parent company, Papa John's International, Inc. (who knew they were international?).

So so much for Papa John's.

Pizza Hut:

One of the worst. 95% of their political contributions go to republicans.

Domino's:

Chairman and CEO, David Brandon, heavy giver to the RNC.

Pizza Inn:

Really couldn't find much on them. One of their top guys gives to Dem candidates, though. The company itself doesn't seem to be owned by another company and doesn't seem to give political contributions, either.

Cici's Pizza:

Could find absolutely nothing on the owner Joe Croce, or the company on opensecrets. First one opened in Plano, now based in Coppell, not owned by another company. Take it for what it's worth.

Now for some of those companies listed on the top 20 contibutors on open secrets that aren't restaurant names but rather parent companies we don't recognize. I thought I'd find out what restaurants they own!

1. Darden Group:
91% to repugs

http://www.darden.com/

Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Smokey Bones, and Bahama Breeze (never heard of the last two). They belong to the Darden Group.

2. Brinker International. They give 92% to repugs. Hold on, they own a lot of restaurants around here. Just look at the list:

http://www.brinker.com/

Chili's, Corner Bakery, On the Border, Maggiano's, Romano's Macaroni Grill, Big Bowl Asian Kitchen and Rockfish.

Yep. So much for those. Damn, I'm going to be saving a shitload of money now.

3. YUM! Brands, 85% to repugs, http://www.yum.com/

A&W Root Beer places, KFC, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's, and Pizza Hut (damn Pizza Hut gives through its parent company and big-time through franchisees!).

4. Ilitch Holdings, 77% to repugs, from the website:

"Because of the size and complexity of the businesses owned by Michael and Marian Ilitch, Ilitch Holdings was formed in 1999 to manage the family’s primary business interests in the food, sports and entertainment industries – Little Caesars Pizza, the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Olympia Entertainment, Olympia Development, Blue Line Foodservice Distribution, Champion Foods, Uptown Entertainment, Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraising Program, and a variety of venues within these entities. The holding company’s total combined revenue in 2003 exceeded $900 million."
http://www.ilitchholdings.com/

5. CBRL Group: 98% to repugs, they own Cracker Barrel and Logan's Roadhouse. We already knew about Cracker Barrel and I've never heard of Logan's.

6. LDB Corp gives 100% to repugs and is listed among the bigger contributors to bush et al and it owns Mr. Gatti's Pizza (are they still around??).

7. Bardha Company is an interesting one: gives 100% to Dems. This is all I could find on them:

Bardha Company/ Restaurant Piazza
Ms. Donika Bardha
Vice President
Rruga "Dede Gjon Luli"
Tirana, Albania

Fax: ++355 4 235199

From this website: http://www.mac.doc.gov/ceebic/countryr/albania/uscos2.htm

8. Wometco Enterprises, 100% to DEMS. Guess what? They own Baskin-Robbins! http://www.miamiseaprison.com/wometco.htm

9. Triarc gives 100% to Dems and own's Arby's!

This is such a great thread! I don't want the info to get forgotten. Come back and check here often.

I've added quite a few of these to the PP already, and it's really beginning to fill out. Texas has more info than any other state!

If any of you guys have relatives elsewhere that know of any, PM me or post it in the other individual state forums.

Thanks ya'll!

I was just watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and toward the end, Academy Sports & Outdoors bought advertising time, at least on the local Time Warner Cable.

With all the censorship that's starting to come down on us, it's a good idea to patronize those companies that will sponsor liberal programs.

161. AAA News in Austin
AAA news in Austin has an owner who is liberal. A large portion of the business is adult material and he is very actively involved in several groups that are fighting censorship and he sells anti-bush buttons and bumperstickers.
the owners of I luv Video and Spiderhouse are very liberal but I hate them, they only pay 5.75 an hour and don't allow lunch breaks on 8-10 hour shifts. When the illegality of that was brought up they just said that they were too small a business to meet OSHA regulation. When it rains the roof leaks but they refuse to fix the it and they refuse to allow employees to close the store when it is filled with several inches of water. I worked there for a few months and they are the reason I now use Netflix. With the level of incompetence that they run their business I don't understand how they remain in business

That's next to the place that used to be ABCDs?

I worked at ABCDs for my ex for awhile when I was home a few summers ago. They have a great selection, but seemed kind of "feh" towards people (customers coming in and giving them business.)

Thanks for the info.

Any info on the places where you took us to eat this last year? I forget the breakfast spot near Montrose on Sunday in June. And the other place was what...MAria Sara's or someplace like that?

The waiter was cool and definitely receptive to info (and the pen)...didn't know if you knew anything more.

Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 10:59 AM by ashling
Back in October I was getting my brakes fixed at Firestone on William Cannon at Brodey. All of us inthe waiting area started talking about how important it was to vote Dem. One guy was opening a mexican/Italian restaurant on 620 (about a mile from 71) called Juan Mario's. He was adamant that we had to vote for Kerry for the sake of the economy.

They just opened. I plan to eat there next time I'm in Austin.

EEOC Settles Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Great American Foods for $81,000--
Ore City, Texas-based Great American Foods Corp. has settled and EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit for $81,000. The company operates the David Beard's Catfish King restaurant chain in Texas and Oklahoma. In its lawsuit, the EEOC alleged that managers at a Catfish King in Idabel, Oklahoma, sexually harassed a waitress and that, despite repeated complaints to company executives, the company failed to take prompt and effective measures to end the harassment. In addition to paying the monetary settlement, the company must provide anti-discrimination training to its workers.

Blegh.
I'm sure there is a decent catfish place somewhere around that's a little better than this.

We went to eat at Ole Whiskers catfish in Plano before the election and the hostess admired my Kerry button. I gave her one and on the way out she was wearing it and asked if she could have another for her son.

I don't know if she was the owner, but it seems like a small scale family owned place. And I hardly think she would have dared to put it on right there unless she either was one of the owners or knew she would have full support from her employer.

207. Why did you do that?
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 08:44 PM by BuyBlueAustin
If you have deleted my email address, then I now know why I have not received any contacts about the list: for other than my PERSONAL email, and/or phone number, no other contact information exists for those who might wish to acquire a copy of the list. I do not, and cannot, maintain a website, nor can I afford another email address.
So, with all due respect, I do not feel your action was helpful.

While I thank your concern for my safety, I believe that listing my contact information is my risk to take. Moreover, an examination of the rules has shown no regulation forbidding the posting of personal information.

Lastly, I do not understand your statement, "please PM them for the email address." Who is "them," exactly? And for which address?

209. Okay, fair enough
I deleted your public post with your email. Why? Because on this board it is usually NOT a good idea to post any personal information. There are many people of a conservative bent who are not members, but still ableo to view such threads anonymously. Some would use this as an invitation to harass you. I've been a moderator long enough to know just how cruel and vicious these attacks can be. It is theoretically possible sometimes for someone to figure out your real name and contact information (phone/address). I did not wish this for you.

So, basically I was trying to protect you from this situation. I also asked people to PM (see below) you for your personal email address or you could ask for their address so that you can email them file you were talking about. This is a usually safer method as it at least means that such a person has taken the time to create an account on DU.

Note: A PM means Private Message which allows for private communication between two DU members. I sent you one where I tried to explain the comment above. Perhaps Skinner put back the requirement of a minimum number of posts before this functionalty works. (Moderators don't get notified of such changes unless they are dramatically new functionality).

If Private Messaging is not working for you, I will forward the email address you provided in that email to any user who PM's me.

212. Aha! Now I get it.
There are many people of a conservative bent who are not members, but still able to view such threads anonymously. Some would use this as an invitation to harass you.

Conservative lurkers: I hadn't considered that. But given the rather "intense" nature of much of this board's discussion, perhaps I should have, as this would no doubt attract similarly vociferous opposition. (Am I to assume that this has happened before?)

I also asked people to PM (see below) you for your personal email address or you could ask for their address so that you can email them file you were talking about.

So, you're askingthem to PM me. Okay, that's the part I didn't understadn clearly.

So, OK, never mind. The list (newly updated) remains available.

208. Use Dun & Bradstreet to compile a list.
A marketing firm would probably use a database like Dun & Bradstreet to compile a prospect list. Find a list of owners by tax code and cross reference to a party contact or donor list.

I think that you can access Dun & Bradstreet at the library. You might need to find someone with full D&B access to acquire a digital copy of the reports.
