Just got off the phone with Katy Hubener who ran for Place 106 |
|
for state representative. She was the Democrat who ran against Ray Allen (BASTARD).
She was telling me the Dallas County Dem Party needs a lot of energizing. How do I go about doing this?
Any other Dallas County Dems here?

1. Volunteered Six Months Of My Time To Elect Martin Frost (He Lost) |

I have some thoughts on energizing the party but they are not popular because they require time and money.

3. Im from Dallas* I think DFA is the alternative to the DNC. |
|
and I was a little involved while I lived there.
I would honestly say, since the DNC and DLC are doing nothing to fund the *write off * states, and weren't doing anything to mobilize the southern states really. I keep returning to what is working right now and what has already built a solid ground force nationwide and that is Democracy for America. I think that is the best way to mobilize Democrats and put the power back into your communities.
Go take a look at DemocracyforAmerica.com and see what you think.
After watching this fiasco of an election, and Kerry concede for no explicable reason and all that is taking place nationwide, I have vowed I am going to put my energy, influence and any money I have towards building an organization that is investing back into this country no matter what area I live in. Its not an organization that sends me monthly letters pleading for money and yet never have any leaders come and speak or hold meetings of any kind. DFA is an organization where and I have met some nice like minded folks and connected with others who are concerned about many if not most of the same things that I am concerned about. The meetups are still going strong and that could be a great way for you to hook up with some fellow Dems*

9. I'd say that's a capital idea.... |
|
We can get some kickass scientists involved, make about 4 or 5 of Glenn, and register 4 or 5 times as many naked people!
;-)
I love Glenn. He's like the Energizer Bunny. And funny as hell. After herding hundreds of us around Iowa TWICE, my admiration for this man can go no higher.

Katy is my guy best friend's sister. He's actually a DU member though he never posts. :)
She and I were in the Texas Tech band together too back in 1989-90. She's a great gal.

Dallas for Kerry will be turning themselves into a grassroots dem-supporting organization. www.DallasForKerry.com. We had the largest volunteer phonebank in the COUNTRY. Wooot!

11. Oh, sure! Well, the first thing that we're doing |
|
is having a round of houseparties to watch the George Lakoff video and have a discussion: What did we do right during the campaign, what did we do wrong, what would each volunteer who was involved like to do in the future, etc.
Once we get that feedback, we're going to have a meeting of all the core activists. We will probably reorganize the website into issue-based pages. We want to link with and coordinate with all of the organizations which are already doing something locally, as well as the local DP. The website really won't need much retooling --- and since it is something that already exists, hopefully what this will mean is a slight change in direction, rather than a wholesale "rip everything up and start over again."
That's our plan so far. :D
