New Rhodes Scholar List: President of Aggie Democrats |
|
This young man is the son of a member of my Sunday School class at First United Methodist in Fort Worth, and his mom and stepmom worked very hard on the campaign.
Nicholas J. Anthis, Fort Worth, is a senior at Texas A&M where he majors in biochemistry. A Goldwater Scholar, he won an award for the best honors thesis in biological sciences. President of the Texas Aggie Democrats, he is a founder of an organization for students in accelerated medical programs. Nick will do a D.Phil. in Biochemistry at Oxford.
Our class whooped it up over this today!

To clarify: I'm a UT grad. :P And, honestly, I'm not surprised to see an A&M student receiving such a high honor--the school is terrific academically. I'm surprised to see he's president of the Texas Aggie Democrats! Right on! I didn't know they had those kind in B/CS.
Congrats, Nick!
Looking forward to Friday. Hook 'em!

Of course the smart ones are the Democrats. No surprise there. He sounds like a very intelligent young man. I wish him well.

6. I e-mailed this info to my Aggie son |
|
He's not only an Aggie and a Democrat, but while on campus, he was active in Amnesty Internationl!
He went on to teach history and government and is now the principal of an urban high school made up of at-risk students. Not a Rhodes Scholar, not even close, but another Aggie Democrat, shaping the future.
Hooray for all the Aggie Dems!!!
