Anyone in Denton? Denton County?
Any DU'ers in Denton who want to get together for coffee or wine or beer and some good serious political talk? I like Brick Haus, Cappucino Cafe, the bar at The Greenhouse, and sometimes Jupiter House. Oh, and there's a new place on Scripture Street that I haven't been to yet.

2. I miss Denton.
My alma mater.

I like the little cafe inside the Cupboard too. Sorry we're a little far nowadays! Rowlett, hell and gone from Denton.

FSC

PS- It'd be great to have a list of some of the Progressive businesses that are still around up there, TexProg, like Sleeping Lizzards, Recycled Books and Records, etc.

Know any other good ones?

Thanks, Anarchy and Movie Girl for the great links. Vincardog, you're right - Dan's Silverleaf should have been on my list. Dan is a great guy. My favorite shows from this summer were both there - Dolorean and Daniel Lanois. Fudge, I'll make that list for you. Give me something useful to do. Lizzards and Recycled are of course both still here, and so is the Cupboard. Some places are gone, but there are new ones that are pretty cool. Some pretty great little coffee shops are springing up.

Thanks, all.

7. I"m in Denton County..
Probably a 20 minute drive from downtown Denton, though.

But, I would be happy to hang out sometime.

8. I'm up for it.
Hey Girl Gone Mad.
I live here in Denton, near the mall, but I work in Dallas (which I hate - the drive is straight outta hell).
Weekends in beautiful old Denton are the best. It's great not to be in the city, or sitting on I35. I usually treat myself to an hour or two at one of the coffee houses in town.
I'd love to get a group of DU'ers together that would like to meet on Saturday or Sunday afternoon and talk politics. There's so many great places to hang and chat in Denton.

10. Amazing
Thanks, Crispini. Now we're getting somewhere. I notice they meet at Rubber Gloves. I good place to hang out, even if I'm usually the oldest guy there.

I'd never heard of this site. How did you come across it?

12. This Is How We Take It Back
Listen.

My parents were both journalists. Way back during the Reagan years, my Mom was working for a small newspaper between Denton and Fort Worth. I think it was the Keller Citizen. She covered the school board meetings for Keller and Trophy Club.

She would tell me about the conservative Christian republicans and their agenda. She would tell me about how they would talk about creating a change at the "grass roots" level. Winning a majority on the school board of a small town in Texas was not a waste of time, it was not insignificant. It was everything.
