Kudos to the lady from Bay City who called KTRH
During the Chris whatever his name is show Wednesday night. The topic - "Who do you not want to hear anymore from in 2005?" I heard this and just laughed...all of Bushco! The answers were predictable - Paris Hilton, Dr. Phil, Trump, Scott Peterson. One brave lady called and said she doesn't want to hear any more from *, Cheney, or Dumsfield, and that she wants to hear a lot more from John Kerry. The host laughed at her and said that would be difficult since these are the guys running the country, then cut her off.

A caller shortly after said he didn't want to hear from Michael Moore. Idiot host went off on a rant about how in a time of war we should support our pres and troops, and that MM says horrible things about America.

I was in the car (the only reason this idiot was penetrating my gray matter), and told my son to hand me my phone. The screener asked me who I didn't want to hear from...I said Coulter and Hannity. I was left on hold for 22 minutes, then the show was over. If I had gotten on the air, I would have agreed with the brave lady from Bay City, and blasted the idiot against MM for being a sheep.

So, to that brave lady in Bay City (I'll bet you're a DU'er) - congratulations on speaking your mind AND making it on the air. I didn't get your name, but you rock!

:yourock:

1. Oh, I missed that...
I'm not sure who you are talking about, but I hate Houston talk radio. If there is anything on worth listening to...I haven't found it yet.

2. You're telling me!
I was so glad to find AAR...but I can't get it in my car. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford satellite radio!

I checked the website...Chris Baker is the guy's name.

He was screaming a couple of weeks ago about the disappearance of Christmas. A guy called and asked him if his child went to a predominantly Muslim school, wouldn't he be outraged if they sang Muslim songs. He said "No, I'd just say hey - my kid's in a school full of Muslims!"

yeah right!

3. I feel your pain - Houston radio bites.
Only two and a half good stations in this huge market:

KPFT (Pacifica Radio)
KTSU (Texas Southern University: Jazz during the week, Motown and Rap on Fridays, and Gospel on Sundays)
KUHF (NPR from the University of Houston)

The rest is all pap radio, RW talk radio or Clear Channel. :puke:

14. Houston radio
KTRU - 91.7FM. Rice Univ. college radio. If there isn't a DJ available, they usually turn the station over to world news radio broadcasts in English.

4. Howard Stern, on 790 in the A.M.
I had no idea he was worth listening to until I started listening.

6. same here!!! I listened when he came to Dallas, but
didn't like him then. But now that he's on in Houston, I gave him a chance, and I like him. I don't know if I just heard him on some u8n-funny days before, or if his style has changed, but I listen every morning now!

5. Chris Baker was actually funny when he first got to town...
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 10:01 AM by Richardo
...about 4 years ago. Light drive time chat, and pretty funny stuff.

Then he got political and started imitating every other RW spewfest in the country. Good thing, too - we only have about 25 RW talk radio shows in this market </sarcasm>. Lousy liberal media.

7. KTRH *used* to be a good station
my mom listened to it when i was little...lots of local talk shows, etc & a good night time line up. then they got bought out by clear channel a couple of years ago, hence the move to right-wing political talk garbage.

bite the bullet & get Sirius...you won't regret it. i love the fact that i'm no longer a hostage to clear channel.

8. Lynn Ashby, who writes a column in the Sun newspapers in Houston
wrote a column about KTRH and their recent turn to the right. And the lack of radio stations for those of us in Houston who want to listen to anything other than right wing lunatics yelling at us. He said he has resorted to listening to bagpipe music in his car! I sent him an email thanking him for his great column and agreeing with him. He sent me back an appreciative email and told me he gets a lot of crazed, hate email from the right wing nuts. He's a good guy, so send him an email if you read his column!

9. I remember Lynn Ashby from years ago, but haven't read him
in a long time. I sent angry letters to KTRH about three hours of Hannity a day...at least now they've moved him. I used to alternate between KTRH for good traffic/news and KARTS (classical)...Then one day KARTS was gone. Did it move somewhere else? Or did it just disappear?

12. So, is there a classical station left around here?
I've scanned, but haven't found one...but then again, the station might have been playing commercials.
