Rally for Hubert Vo -Austin on Tuesday 1/11 2.00 p.m.
At last night's DFT meetup we heard from David Holmes who will be joining Vo's legislative staff and he gave us these details.

The swearing in ceremony for all House Members is at noon in the House Chambers on Tuesday. The public may attend and sit in the gallery. No signs are allowed.

Rally at the south steps of the capitol 2:00 p.m. All are welcome and please do come out and stand with him if you can. Come make some noise.

Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto located between Trinity and San Jacinto Streets at 12th and 13th streets. Parking is free for the first two hours and $.75 for each half hour thereafter.

2. Hey I like that Post-Boxer-Rebellion tag
My new hero. I may have to change my icon now to Barbara Boxer. A true and brave American.

7. We had a great turnout for Vo today
I'll post some pics later but I think we had about 300 people at least. Lots of media. Most of our Democrat TX House Representatives stood with Vo as well as TX State Party Chair Charles Soechting and former US Congressman Chris Bell.

My two favorite signs. One was a towel actually that had "Helfin, throw in the towel" written on it in marker. The other was a button that said "Heflin just can't say Vo"

Parking was a nightmare. I sure wish we had as many people come everyday we have a fight in the legislature as came out today. Soechting called Vo our giant killer.

We want Vo!!

One weird note that I'm trying to research, during the swearing in ceremony there was one elected House Rep that refused her seat. I don't know what the reasons were, and the only thing I know is that her name was Elizabeth Ames Jones and she represents Dist. 121 somewhere near S.A. I believe this was a repuke won seat. I wonder what the story is and what will happen?

8. I think the rep is Elizabeth Jones
This is the story according to News 8

"One representative-elect did not take the oath of office. Instead Elizabeth Ames Jones is waiting to be sworn in as a member of the Texas Railroad Commission. If affirmed by the Senate, Jones would replace Charles Matthews who is leaving to be the chancellor of the Texas State University System."

9. Ah, that means a special election for that seat no?
She is a repuke and that district is in San Antonio, Bexar county. So I hope our S.A. Dems can put a candidate in that race quickly.

Thanks Shaz!
