PRE-EVENTS open to community:
Saturday, January 15th, 9:30 am - 2 pm: Community Meeting - "How Can We Help End The War in Iraq in Austin?" at Central Christian Church, 11th and Guadalupe. Come participate in an event geared toward commonly creating short term, specific activities we, as Austinites, can carry out to help put an end to the war in Iraq. Special guest: author Rahul Mahajan of http://www.empirenotes.org / will provide critical insight to help frame our work. http://www.texansforpeace.org/CalendarSpecialEvents.htm or charliej@texansforpeace.org for more info.

Sunday, January 16th, 11 am – 1 pm: CodePink Austin hosts a discussion "salon" focusing on women’s issues at The Austin History Center, 810
Guadalupe. How will 4 more years of Bush affect women, children and our concerns? Participate and help us process such! (Bring snacks to share if possible) Codepinkaustin@yahoo.com for questions & http://www.codepinkalert.org to find out more about the CodePink phenomenon.

THE J20 RALLY:

MLK DAY
Monday, January 17: Attend the large MLK Day parade with your group or join anti-war people (should be able to spot a fabulous large colorful "Austin Against War" banner) to show your solidarity with MLK’s outrage over unjust war and murder in our name – a mantra he started boldly speaking to just one year before his assassination. The march will start at the MLK statue on the east mall at UT at 8:00 am, will go to the Capitol then to Huston-Tillotson for the festival. For folks who want to walk less, you can join in at the Capitol around 8:45-9am. Contact debmocracy@yahoo.com if you want info on community banner painting/sign making schedule.

5. Won't be able to make the initial march on Thursday
But if I can meet up somewhere after 5, I'll be there. Also, I have a photography project coming up in class and I wanna see if I can document some of this stuff. Posterity, activism, and academics all in one, you know?
