Info on District 121 special election
Just received this email:

Over 50 of us volunteers met with our candidate for St Rep District
121, Judge Rose Spector. She is an excellent candidate with lots of
experience including the important school funding issues. She was
one of the lawyers on the Edgewood case AND she has heard cases
regarding school funding while she sat on the Supreme Court. I think
we've got the best experienced candidate on this issue running in
this race. We all know this is THE issue of the legislature, we
can't afford to have an uneducated population in TX.
Please come help any way you. Right now you could help by
volunteering! E-mail is: spector_campaign@hotmail.com There will
be phone calls to make, and you've got to let everyone you know that
lives in District 121 that a) the Democratic Candidate is the best
qualified, b) early voting for this race doesn't start until 1/25
(all the other elections start on 1/20). c) People need to go to
these the polls to vote early - go to the Justice Center, Oakwell
Library on Harry Wurzbach or Wetmore Elementary on Thousand Oaks.
Things are a little confusing so it's up to you to make sure all
your people know how to cast their vote and when and where for us to
win. We can do it! Let's take St Rep District 121 and show these
Republicans there are Democrats who mean business here!

1. That is great news
I did notice this

I kind of figured something was up. I may be wrong but I did not hear Perry appointing a person to the Railroad Commission. The repugs know very well we can take back this state, so they will try anything to create confussion. I hope Judge Spector wins.

3. Four vie for seat in state House

Four people, including former Texas Supreme Court Justice Rose Spector, are running for the vacant Texas House District 121 seat in a special election Feb. 5.

The race also includes former Rep. Paul Silber and businessmen Joe Straus III and Glen S. Starnes.

Spector, the first woman selected to the state Supreme Court, is also the only Democrat seeking to represent the district, which has leaned heavily Republican in recent elections. Spector served as an attorney on the state's original Edgewood school finance case. She helped lawyers for the district who sued in federal court to force the state to divert more money to property-poor school districts. She said she would like to be part of the legislative solution to overhauling the system. Perry has declared school funding an emergency issue for the Legislature, allowing legislation to be enacted ahead of adjournment.

---------------

Good luck again to Judge Rose Spector.
