There's a Meet and Greet on Tuesday (tomorrow) for volunteers and prospective volunteers. Someone forwarded it to me, PM if you want details, or I'm sure you could sign up on the website and find out.

This gal is SERIOUS.

1. What I know, which is not much......
I've been getting e-mails from her campaign for the past month or so. I really don't know anything about her. I guess I need to study up.

A friend (for you Houston DU meetup folks, that would be Kris)who is in the PPC, is pretty much throwing in the towel on the organized Dem party and VERY left sent me this within an e-mail:

"During her law practice, she only did one pro bono case, I think and she represented hospitals and HMOs against the people the rest of the time." That's all I know, except her husband is a doctor, so it makes me think her client list may be true. For now, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt, but I'm not committing.

She seems to be organized and full of energy and she is after all SHE, so I'm hoping to learn a lot more and see who else is running and make a good decision. LOL, not as though anyone I support ever wins, anymore. She may prefer I stay way away.

Mary

2. Do we have any idea who else might be going for it?
I am impressed that she already is working on the campaign. That's pretty freakin cool.

3. The only other names
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 05:12 PM by merci_me
I've heard at this point are former congressmen Jim Turner and Ken Bensten, but that was just in small tidbits of gossip, nothing in print or any online source.

Bensten is a Houstonian and I haven't heard a word from him nor even heard anyone else mention him except just once, recently. I did hear from a DCC person that Turner didn't run for congress after the redistricting and was instead planning to run for Senate. To be honest, until then his name drew a blank with me.

Just this minute, it occurred to me that State Rep Rick Noriega
http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/dist145/noriega.htm
and
http://www.ricknoriega.com/
who is a major in Afghanistan right now, could be a perfect candidate for senate. He was shipped out in June and "should" be back at least by this fall. That's unless we start talking about him running for senate, in which case his time will probably be extended, by Bushco.

7. Thanks for that info.
I really think I'm going to wait and see where the primary money starts to line up.

My REAL commitment next year is to Chris Bell, if he's still interest in running for governor, or anything else he decides to do. That and try to rescue my company from the disastrous Bushco years.

5. I have heard good things abuot Jim Turner
He is very strong in East Texas and could run well against a GOP candidate.

6. Certain people with specific party activist ties
describe her as a "Lieberman Democrat".

If so, I wish her well, but I'll find a more progressive candidate to support in the primary.

8. I don't see that at all. Do you have any way we can confirm or reject
the idea that she's a DINO?

9. Obviously it is subjective and a matter of O
what Barbara Radnofsky is or isn't.

The person's opinion I cite in my previous post would prefer not to be quoted for attribution, so I'm going to honor that.

10. Well, she's doe not appear to be from the Lloyd Doggett end of the party,
like I would prefer, but she seems more progressive than the last guy we ran for governor. I wish her website was more detailed with respect to her positions on issues that are important to me. I was curious how anyone could call her a Lieberman Democrat because she's never held office (and so has no record from which you could place her on a spectrum) and her public statements seem just left of the center of the party here in Texas.
