Austin: Meet Vo at Meetup
At our next Meetup on Wednesday, February 2, we’ll have a visit from Representative Hubert Vo of Houston. He’ll bring us up-to-date on the election contest he’s involved in and talk about the current legislative session. (Congressman Chris Bell’s visit has been postponed till March.)

We’ll also have a report on this month’s State Democratic Executive Committee meeting from Rich Bailey and an update on the race for DNC chair. We’ll discuss racial diversity and community outreach. And, for everyone who’s been asking—we’ll tell you what you can do to help with DemocracyFest. Almost 300 people have already registered for DemFest—have you? www.democracyfortexas.org/Demfest/register

Our lending library is off to a great start! Thanks to everyone who contributed materials. If you have something to add, or you want to check something out, see Jim McElroy at Meetup.

We’ll see you on Wednesday at 7:00 at Scholz’s!

Your DFT Steering Committee—
Marla Camp, Glen Maxey, Teri Sperry, and Fran Vincent

5. kick plus a must read story link
This is linked everywhere now, but still a good read. Maybe we can get Vo to talk about this other type of voter fraud - evidence tampering.

So Many Watching, So Little Seen
The Real Scandals of the Texas Election
(snip)
On Friday Hartnett noticed another curious thing. As he examined original questionnaires that were supposed to be filled out by alleged illegal voters and notarized as depositions, he found two kinds of ink used to fill out the answers and two kinds of handwriting. Larry Veselka, the Yale-educated lawyer who represents the elected Democrat in the race, Hubert Vo, then noticed that handwritten 'no' and 'NA' answers on at least two questionnaires looked to be written in the same hand.

Again, nobody reported this alleged 'tampering with evidence,' especially not the state capitol press corps, who let this open-air revelation pass without even quoting the words that were mentioned in the broadcast. However, since the proceeding took place under the jurisdiction of Austin prosecutor Ronnie Earle, maybe reporters are simply waiting to quote him on the matter of 'assisted depositions.' Or maybe I'm trying too hard to find a sensible motivation for media behaviors.

7. Dimples?
Can we actually call him that? He is an attractive man.

There's a good picture of Dimples at this link:

Boy just compare Dimples to that repuke tub of evil.

By the way I got that story link from Greg Moses and his fine Texas Civil Rights Review site. http://texascivilrightsreview.org/phpnuke/

8. So what's the report from the meetup?
Here's the latest from the A-A-S on the challenge.

Report on challenged election not ready yet

Rep. Will Hartnett, R-Dallas, given the task of receiving evidence in a House election challenge, doesn't expect to release his report until early next week.

9. Vo was absolutely great
He talked about how when he first came to this country, that he hardly spoke the language. With hard work however, he was able to achieve his dream. He was so positive. He talked about holding every kind of job imaginable - bus boy, cook, parts assembler, cashier, steel worker. The man knows first hand what it is to make ends meet. He now owns real estate, some apartment complexes, but he's had several kinds of businesses.

He said his race is not over though and not to trust those people trying to take away his seat. He also said he believed that people need to get involved in government. He was happy to see that we have at least one Asian American (Jennifer Kim) running for our City Council. He says that's how he got interested in running. He helped a friend of his run in Houston.

He talked about unity and cooperation between all our peoples.

His two main goals are to strengthen education in the state and to reinstate CHIP for children. He got appointed to the border affairs committee and another one that has a business focus but I don't remember the name of it. And he says his office policy is an open door policy. All are welcome to his office, no matter if he's your representative or not.

I loved him. He's a man with a big heart and a wonderful public servant attitude. I'd like about 150 more like him.

10. Thanks for the report..........
We love that man, too. His warm and gentle smile makes us all want to hug him. And he's sooooooo humble. His wife is a darling, too.

Even while working his own race, he worked his heart out in the Asian community for other Dems. No matter what we asked, he always had that million dollar smile and came through for us.
