5/1: Gay-marriage foes to rally at Safeco Field
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2001916514_safecorally30m.html

...

A contingent of multifaith clergy members will lob a key pitch tomorrow, hoping to fill Safeco Field from noon to 2 p.m. for what they've termed a Mayday for Marriage rally.

The organizers, a group of area pastors using TV ads and a public-relations firm, have booked national pro-family speaker James Dobson, who has called the consequences of losing the gay-marriage fight "dire."

Pro-gay-marriage activists plan to respond with a demonstration: a "welcoming party" just outside Safeco Field. A vigil by Soulforce in Washington, a national interfaith gay-rights group, also is planned.

Reminds of that great Tom Tomorrow comic from month ago:

1. I predict three times more protestors than attendees
I could be guessing on the conservative (sic) side, but that's my take on this.:hi:

2. I hope so.
I'm a little nervous about counter-protest turnout, mostly because the legislative caucuses are tomorrow as well. :(

5. And don't forget it's opening day too
Which means the Montlake Bridge will be closed. That could work in either party's favor, though.

4. actually, isn't tomorrow opening day
of boating season? Traffic will be a nightmare everywhere with the Montlake bridge out of service all afternoon.

Hmmmm, wonder how many folks can make it to Safeco on time?
Bad planning on their part!

6. Tom Tomorrow always nails it
I saw this article this morning and just about hurled. The worst part about these people is that they are signing up people to vote..... for Bush.

8. I wasn't able to make it,
(to the counter-protest, of course!), because I was in the LD caucus - where I was elected as a delegate to the Congressional District caucus, hooray!!!

I hear they bussed in wingnuts from all over the state, but the 20,000 they got fell far short of the 47,000 they were predicting. HAHAHA!!! Plus, I hear the protesters outside on the concourse several times completely drowned out the bigots speaking inside. BWAHAHAHA!!!

Stay the hell out of Seattle, Dobson, you freak!
