10. Wait until they go on the air
And then see what the final schedule looks like.

If Malloy's not there, I'd contact the station and beg for them to add Malloy. This method worked in Madison, where CC just dropped Phil Hendrie and added Malloy due to overwhelming response asking for the move. Considering that Hendrie's show is syndicated by CC's Premiere Networks, for them to drop Hendrie for a show they don't own is remarkable. I can see Infinity dropping a Franken rerun for a fresh show (though it would be tape-delayed).

Kind of a weird decision putting 'Unfiltered' in the morning drive slot. Some of the newer affiliates are putting Stephanie Miller (syndicated by the same folks who do Ed Schultz' show) in mornings. Seems like a better move, since it's a funner, breezier show, and it's created for West Coast morning time slots.

3. 1090? That was the frequency of the now defunct KING AM
Dori Monson and Pat Cashman were on that station. Dori was a moderate back then.

14. The only time I want to hear Dori....
is on Wednesday the 3rd after the election when Kerry wins and Dori announces that he has officially become a Republican.

9. Interesting to note, the station is run by Infinity
They are the #2 broadcasting company in the US. They are part of the Viacom family, and this is the first entry into liberal talk for them.

Infinity has been dragging their heels with the format, and I assume that it was because they were concentrating on their own talk format, which is 'hot talk' featuring shock jocks built around Howard Stern. Unfortunately, Stern is gone in a year, and their last experiment with Sternless hot talk was WNEW in New York, built around Opie and Anthony. We all know what happened there. They also like all-news formats like WINS/New York and WBBM/Chicago, but that seems to do better in really big markets with longer commutes.

This could mean that Infinity could be looking at other markets for liberal talk, where Clear Channel and Entercom haven't made the move yet. This, coupled with some relatively strong ratings results so far, could mean that liberal talk could be coming to many more markets soon.

This will get very interesting.

Right Wing Classic Country fans waking up this morning, getting in their pickup truck in Puyallup, and WAM, 1090 AM has Al Franken on giving them the gospel of truth! Heads explodiing up and down the valley freeway.

29. Wish I could say the same in Southeast King County...
Reception is fine during the day, but at around 6:00 P.M. they reduce their power (don't know why), and it suddenly gets drowned out by, believe it or not, the "Mighty 1090" -- a sports-talk station coming out of San Diego, over a thousand miles away!

:grr:

17. Congratulations, neighbors
:hi:

That's almost the same lineup as on 620 KPOJ here in Portland.

KPOJ started at #28 in this market. By the end of the first rating period, Al Franken was beating Rush Limbaugh and Ed Schultz was beating Sean Hannity, and the asshole local Lars Larson's ratings dropped by about half.

Hope you guys get Malloy. All in all, it's been great.

I got to listen to it at work today, it was great, I also got my Boss and the Owner of the business to tune in on the Office Radio, the shop is sadly listening to Pig Boy... but it is great to hear a new progressive station in Seattle ,, I can't listen at home.

20. Shoot! I'm now an AM talk show junkie!! Darn AAR!!
I'm a psuedo-dittohead! I have AAR on in the car all day, when I should be listening to jazz or classical (better for the blood pressure).

22. Finally!
We are inundated with right-wing talk shows that appeal to the most radical neo-cons. I cannot listen to the radio on the way home from work it is so bad. I finally sent an e-mail to Carlson who had a woman on who had taught her five-year-old to say that "John Kerry was going to kill us." This little girl actually lived in fear that John Kerry was going to kill her. The wackos are crawling out from under their rocks and they believe they are main stream due to the radical media that encourages such behavior.

I can't wait for some balance.

23. Ads on KPTK/KYCW
I am so happy that Air America has made its way to Seattle.. I don't know about you, but my radio has been fixed to this station all week. Poor KUOW, I've nearly abandoned it, leaving it like a jilted lover.
Anyway, some of the ads on 1090AM, are odd at best, annoying at worst. They have been running many Rob McKenna/anti-Deborah Senn ads, and many Tim Eyman pro-slots initiative ads. They must be holdovers from when the station was country. I've tried letting Air America know but I don't know if it does any good. Any thoughts?
 <-- What I'll do on Tuesday night, with a :7 :toast: :bounce:   :headbang: if Kerry wins and
  :puke: :wtf: :nuke: :grr: if Bush wins.

Go KERRY!!!!!

Near head explosion experience - I just heard a Toby Keith concert commercial on AM-1090 - must be a holdover from when it was a country station.

The best entertainment investment I ever made - not just for AAR, either. The music selection is awesome.
