6. One Republican, Sam Reed
He's done a very good job as Sec. of State. A little bit slow on paper receipts, but he did see the light.

I toyed with voting for a third party for Lt. Gov, but ended up voting for Brad Owen, the Dem. The Libertarians just scare me, and I will never vote Green again after 2000.

I am so sad to see Cooper losing. Sutherland is a Bush crony. What do you like about him?

(I hope my tone isn't angry or accusing - I really want to understand - thanks)

11. Out where? The West Side?
I favor rapid, intensive development of alternative energy resources, which will pave the way for breaching the dams and facilitate the effort to maintain sustainable fisheries. This is unpopular out here, but I think it's the right way forward.

Haggerty isn't the ideal spokesperson for this perspective, in my view. A more pro-business outlook would be more productive. But I agree with his views on civil rights, on ending the war on drug's racial injustices, and on the Iraq war.

I think Owen's campaign against marijuana is positive--positively silly. I have mixed feelings about what he's done to promote international trade. He should do more to promote the growth of organic farming and the export of organic wines and other products.

I also want to see more better developments in green architecture. Owen has touted his role in one of the MulvannyG2 Shanghai deals, but afaik these are not green building designs, and MulvannyG2 has only a few LEED-certified architects on board.

Owen hasn't totally ignored alternative energy, but he hasn't done enough. My sense is that he's too comfortable with the status quo. That's why I voted Haggerty.

15. Beyond good and evil
If you don't want to seriously discuss the contest for Lieutenant Governor, why bother responding?

Owen's party affiliation is not something to be taken for granted. My claim to represent Democratic values, as a voter and a citizen, is stronger than Owen's. Owen has taken conservative positions on social and economic issues, and his participation in civic life suggests to me that his interests lie with an old boy's network of big business cronies and father-knows-best moralists. His record of service has provided ample reasons for a liberal Democrat to withhold support for his candidacy.

I'd be happy to be disabused of my distrust of Owen, if you can show me how he represents the Democratic Party in any substantive way. Otherwise, whatever.

16. my straight ticket
vote was in itself intended to be a statement. You are right, i didn't seriously want to discuss the race for lieutenant governor. I consider this to be the most important election of my lifetime, not only to elect dems, but to stop the repubs and the rights agenda. For me, a straight dem ticket was the most effective way for me to say that.

But it sure makes decisions easier. I'm sure few Repukes out here in E. WA voted against the incompetent Doc Hastings.

12. Yes.
I'm never voting for a Republican again---and I'm not voting for a third party's candidate unless I think that I would be just as happy with the Republican candidate as the Democratic candidate.

19. voted D, G and R
I voted Dem for everything but Lt. Gov (voted for Haggerty...I can't stand Brad Owen) and for County Commissioner (in Thurston County) I actually voted for Bill Pilkey (R) instead of Diane Oberquell (D). There! I said it!!!

20. Libertarian for LT Gov.
I am a fiscal conservative.

The budget for the LT Gov is $400k. One of the duties is to promote trade, create jobs for Washingtonians.

Brad may be making the trips, but but we are not getting our money's worth from this position.
