ACTION NEEDED: Demand a Hand Recount
There will be a mandatory recount but it won't be hand unless the Dems and the Gregoire campaign demand that it is done by hand and, if necessary, go to court to get the job done.

Look at http://www.electionintegrity.com/scripts/default.asp. This is the website set-up by VotersUnite and a group of King County activists. The information is all there to show why a hand recount must be done.

1. Software that was not federally inspected and certified was used in 6 counties.
2. The "emergency" rule that our SoS wrote to allow this uncertified software to be used was no longer in effect on 13 Nov.
3. The software will never be inspected because it will be removed from the machines after the election and will be replaced with certified software.
4. The Libertarian candidates for Senate and Governor took the state to court in order to get on the general election ballot and were allowed on partially because of the use of this software by the state.

Please take action. Call the state Democratic Party and demand that they demand a hand recount. Paul Berendt is the guy to ask for. Call the King County Democratic part headquarters and talk to Greg Rodriguez and demand that he demand a hand recount. Call the Christine Gregoire campaign and demand that they demand a hand recount.

If we can show, through a hand recount, that there is a big difference between the machine and the hand count, we can save the state from buying DREs next year. We can also call into question every other race in the state that was surprisingly won by a Republican.

1. Also ask Chris Gregoire to request manual recounts in the Governor race
in at least a few counties, but especially King. Here's the address of her campaign website: info@gregoire2004.com

3. Oh, we're already mobilizing for this
(the state Democrats, that is) - we're already starting to raise the required money (you have to pay per precinct you want recounted).
