Police Issue Safety Alert To Realtors

EDMONDS, Wash. -- Police have issued a warning for local real estate agents after a female agent was sexually assaulted during an open house.

Detectives are investigating whether the incident, at an open house in Edmonds, is connected with similar cases on the Eastside.

In the Edmonds case, a man walked into an open house last Saturday, acting at first as if he was interested in buying the home. Then he grabbed the female agent showing the home and sexually assaulted her.

When he lunged a second time, she screamed and he left.

The manual gives agents tools to help prevent similar attacks.

1. Remember the Realtor who was murdered a few years back?
I think he was showing a house in Woodinville and was found stabbed in the bathtub. Very scary - AFAIK they never did catch the perpetrator.

2. Notice the difference in States?
What was the story on LBN recently about a repairman who grabbed a woman and tried to kiss her, and was let off because he was just trying to "steal a kiss"? Glad the authorities here have their shit together, and recognize an assault when they see one. Scary stuff. I work in real estate, not as an agent.. but when I have to be in a vacant house, I bring someone along.. or have my dog in the car and cell phone in hand at all time.
