What do you think about this idea?

Have the State of Wisconsin charge a $5-10 fee for burning permits, and increase the penalty for burning without a permit substatilly. Burning permits are required for many rural residents if they want to do any burning on their land. (Bonfires and cooking fires are exempt.)

1. Bonfires aren't exempt in my county

We've always had a permit. Any fire large enough that someone might call the FD can get your backside in hot water.

Besides that, I have to ask why charge a fee? Why increase the penalty? What's the problem you're trying to address? I'm asking because I'm not seeing an issue with the way things are now. In fact, I think it's too inconvenient as it is. Making it more convenient might get more people to comply.

2. Great idea

there are so many fire pits in my neighborhood that my car gets an ash residue on it every friday and saturday night.It's crazy,I bet they can see them from space for gods sake.
