Another candidate in the 8th Congressional district
The Appleton Post Crescent has a story about Dr. Steve Kagen entering the run for the House of Representatives as a Democrat. He will be joining Nancy Nussbaum and Jamie Wall as Democrats running for Mark Green's old seat.

I remember Kagen's father running for office in the 60's with the slogan, "Dr. Kagen Cares."

Sorry, no link yet.

1. IIRC, Dr. Kagan spoke at the DPW convention in June
It seems his only issue is health care, which wouldn't be a problem if he were our only contender for the office. Unfortunately for him, he is a dreadful bore next to Jamie Wall.

7. Okay so has he already stepped down?
That would be really cool if he has because he sits on the IRC which would then only be one vote away from bringing this up to a vote by the Sept. 16th deadline:

Vote is to launch a full investigation into Bush and DSM.

If not, could we petition him to vote for this resolution (HR 375) since he's on the way out anyway? Or will he need Shrubbie's voice to run for Guv?

5. Article from Green Bay paper...

Kagen, 55, who is running as a Democrat, said his campaign will focus on health care and calls his solution No Patient Left Behind.

(snip)

Kagen said the current system is based more on who is paying the bill. He said a colonoscopy at one facility might cost $2,500 while another would charge only $900 because health-care facilities aren’t held accountable for their prices except to the insurance companies.

“The prices should be openly disclosed,” he said. “It should be a unitary pricing system because the real price is hidden.” He said this is not the same as universal health care.

“We are just not ready for that,” Kagen said. “I just don’t think our country is going to take the leap to a universal-payer system.”

His plan is a baby step in the right direction, I'll give it that.

8. He's quite sincere
but he is pretty much a "one-issue" candidate....

Nancy Nussbaum and Jamie Wall are excellent candidates....either one of them could easily "adopt" Kagan's health proposals and leave him standing (politically ) naked in a primary.

His clinic sponsored the pollen and mold counts on during the weather on WBAY.

13. He may have to give that up if he chooses to run.
Didn't Russ Darrow have the same "conflict of interest" ?
