Editorial: Concealed-carry bill reveals shocking Capitol habit


State Rep. Scott Gunderson, R-Waterford, is putting together legislation that would allow Wisconsin residents to carry concealed weapons. A similar attempt was made in 2003, but Gov. Jim Doyle vetoed it.

Gunderson’s effort isn’t surprising, whether you are for or against concealed carry. The issue has been a pet project of Republican lawmakers for years.

What is surprising is the concealment of the document itself.

Deputy Atty. Gen. Dan Bach has demanded a draft of the bill be released because, amazingly, it was vetted by a representative of the National Rifle Association, a private citizen serving one of the most powerful special interest groups in the nation, a group with a huge stake in concealed carry. Even more amazingly, Gunderson is refusing because bills are supposed to be confidential until they are formally introduced.

did you see that in the paper?Gunderson says it's an outrage!With all the problems in the state rising poverty,more uninsured,food pantries empty.The one thing we can count on teh repugs to do is try to get a senseless gun law passed or maybe a gay marriage bill.Do nothing crap that does nothing for the well being of wiscononites.
