Watch out for those frosty steps this morning
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 08:52 AM by sybylla
I just went skiing down mine. Well, two of four anyway. Landed on a step with an elbow and the shortribs. Should be pretty by bedtime.

 The good news is it's distracting me from the increasingly sporatic back spaz situation that developed 6 weeks ago.

 The bad news is that I have a ton of stuff to do this weekend to get the place ready for winter (why do in September what you can put off until October) and I will probably feel miserable tomorrow. :banghead:

1. Hey Sybyll...why not put off to November?
Actually, I'm tucking in the S.O.s place in hopes of reducing what promises to be a mammoth gas bill.

I am thinking this is the year to make fire starter logs out of the Milwaukee Journal.

3. LOL. See, other years I put off to November

and then I find myself wearing a parka to plant tulips and daffodils in the freezing rain. I promised myself I wouldn't do that again this year, so October is better than I've done for several years. And now .

I guess I just have to see what I can get done today before the real pain sets in.

And lucky you, you have wood heat. Me, I just paid $1001 dollars to fill two LP tanks, one for our office in the garage and one for the house. Luckily, the furnace needs minor fixing before it can be used so we're saving money as we speak.

2. Thank goodness you're okay!
Or at least, well enough to come on here and talk about it. I'm so sorry, much sympathy for that elbow. Ice, keep the ice on it now! Take motrin now. And a cup of tea too, I'd think. Best wishes :)

4. Thanks
I'm kind of in that numbness stage that comes right after the blinding pain stage but just before the omg stage. I was a tomboy so I learned to walk it off like my brother did, but I've been enough of a clutz in my life to know this is gonna hurt.

6. Thanks, MRp. My son spent the morning carrying out his computer parts
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 09:13 AM by sybylla
for a LAN party and didn't seem to have any trouble even with rather slippery shoes on. He didn't say anything so I walk merrily out the door without thinking.

After I landed in the frost, I had a bit of a "duh" moment. I'm sure I'll be fine. It's always my pride that takes the biggest hit. Thank goddess I live in the middle of nowhere or my antics surely would have brightened a few mornings.

It was kind of cool - skiing down the steps. Never done that before.

8. Sorry to hear that Sybylla!
good news is that bruises heal quickly.....

it could have been worse.

My experience with freezing rain a few years ago was worse...I went into a house to sell a policy and the freezing rain happened when I was in the house. I came out of the house in my slick soled loafers, took two steps on the stairs and WOKE UP 15 minutes later with two broken teeth, a split lip and a torn rotator cuff.

9. Ouch, that definitely trumps my little dance this morning.
Believe it or not, you've made me feel much better. ;)

I seem to do this kind of think once a year. It's like driving on that first snow. You only make that mistake once and you hope you come out the other side unscathed when you do. It seems to be a lesson I have to relearn every fall.

10. Don't remind me!
Driving on that first snow is not something I look forward to.

Remember just last year or so I did a little 360 on hwy 13.....

12. A 360? Wow!
You really go whole hog when you go. :yourock:

For me it usually consists of lots of swearing as I slide through a stop sign or two. It's another reason to live in a rural area with barely any traffic. I get the big mistakes harmlessly out of my system before I hit the highway. On the other hand, when there is traffic, it's likely to be a milk truck.
