Need a little help
just got nailed (around noon time) by a Freeper type who said that "...even Dave Obey voted for the war!" Is that true?

I thought Dave was 4-square against it but I didn't have the facts to back it up...the freeper insisted that Obey voted for the war.

True or False?

2. Tell the freeper to prove that to you, but keep in mind
that Fuckface lied about the reasons of the invasion (it's not a "war," it was never a "war," it's an invasion and an occupation).

Fuckface lied. People voted on his assertions, believing him to be honest.

He wasn't.

He lied.

PS: Don't ever let freepers put you on the defensive like this - demand they give you a link (an authentic link) to their pronouncements, and, if they don't, tell them to piss off.

NEVER defend. Got that?

Reply #36 has a list of the 'No' votes. Obey appears to have voted 'No' according to this list.

5. Probably the most certain way would be to call his office
in Wausau and ask. There are a lot of twists in the wording of some of those congressional and senate bills as you know from the Kerry campaign. The below may have occurred before the actual "war" vote.

http://www.issues2000.org/House/David_Obey_War_+_Peace.htm
presents this:
Voted NO on authorizing military force in Iraq.
Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq: Passage of the joint resolution that would authorize President Bush to use the US military as he deems necessary and appropriate to defend U.S. national security against Iraq and enforce UN Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq. It would be required that the president report to Congress, no later than 48 hours after using force, his determination that diplomatic options or other peaceful means would not guarantee US national security against Iraq or allow enforcement of UN resolutions and that using force is consistent with anti-terrorism efforts. The resolution would also give specific statutory authorization under the War Powers Resolution. Every 60 days the president would also be required to report to Congress on actions related to the resolution.
