Completly Asinine anti Feingold LTTE in the Stevens Point Journal.
http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060114/SPJ06/601140323/1713/SPJopinion

I had a great laugh at the Stevens Point Journal on Jan. 9. On the editorial page, the editors gushed over Sen. Feingold because he would not take bottled water because of the value. Apparently, Feingold had no problem accepting the gushing front page story and half of page two that they published about him. A whole article without a word of criticism. Tell me editors of the Stevens Point Journal, what would it cost for a huge front page story on your paper? The Stevens Point Journal just made a huge contribution to the Democratic Party -- again. I bet Feingold was really mad about that.

The amazing part is how false the story was. Russ Feingold has been masterful in talking about campaign reform, however, he is the biggest spender in the history of Wisconsin. That's right. According to "Wisconsin Democracy Campaign," Sen. Feingold spent $11,230,411 to win re-election in 2004. That compared to $5.5 million for his competitor. No one ever has spent more on a campaign in Wisconsin as our dear senator. (And the poor soul won't even take water.) Yes, apparently Sen. Feingold is taking something of value from somebody. Of course, the Stevens Point Journal has totally distorted the facts to promote its front page liberal agenda.

Russ Feingold has refused spending caps, because he likes the advantage of taking these huge contributions and outspending his opponents 2:1. All the time, Feingold is lecturing us about money in politics, it turns out that he is one of the biggest money guys in politics. How can he get away with this hypocrisy? Easy, the Stevens Point Journal will not publish the facts.

Why would the Stevens Point Journal misrepresent the truth about Feingold? In its editorial, its editors were "stunned by Feingold's declining free water." The only questions about these editors are; are they really ignorant of the facts? Or are they purposely misleading their readers?

Don't you owe us an explanation, Stevens Point Journal?

1. I love the straw man "spent more than any previous" meme
Pssst...here's a clue: (It cost's more to do anything these days)

It's like saying home ownership is at an all time high.

Duh.

The number of people is at an all time high.

2. And how can he claim with a straight face that brazillionaire Michels
spent less than half of what Feingold spent? No doubt a check of the records would cast this LTTE in a much different light. Perhaps someone at the newspaper is doing just that.
