I was a Packers fan in Chicago, but my interest in football has been replaced by hockey the last few years. But the Packers are still my favorite NFL team;-)

I live in the central plains, the most boring part landscape in Wisconsin. It's great farm land but flat as Columbus' head. (10 points if you can name the cartoon)
Born in Marshfield where I spent most of my childhood, lived in Madison for 8 years, brought my babies back here 13 years ago to grow up in a bit more relaxed though unfortunately less diversified culture - not to mention the fact that nearly all their family live in the area.
Hubby's family are strong Democrats. His grandfather went to jail in New York for knocking the tap off a milk truck during a milk strike in the 30's and was elected to the county board every election afterwards until he retired in the 70's.
My family was never openly political. We'd been burned on religious battles about the turn of the century and decided family was much too important to let divisive issues get in the way. But I leaned Democratic anyway. I just didn't know it yet.
Now I'm active in the party, trying to do what Howard Dean called for - fighting to return it to its roots as the party of the people.

11. Moved to Eau Claire when I was 8 |
|
Grew up there, graduated from Memorial High School, went off to college in Michigan, came back to Eau Claire where I worked some different jobs and eventually went back for an MA in English, taught off and on at Stout, went off to grad school again in the Twin Cities, moved to Nekoosa for a few months after grad school, then to the Detroit area for 2.5 years, then to Janesville for 6 years, then to Wyoming for 7 years -- Now I'm back in Eau Claire.
Wisconsin keeps calling me.
My first campaign was the general election in 1968 when I was 14. In 1970, I volunteered for Walt Thoresen for Congress. 1972 I was dedicated heart and soul to the McGovern primary. Also active in Young Dems from 1970-72.
Became active in the Democratic Party when I came home from college and was paid $200 for two months of work managing the Democratic Party Campaign Headquarters in 1976. The Carter campaign kicked in an additional $200, so it worked out to about a nickel an hour.
Stayed active in the Democratic Party and held regional office, went to a bunch of state conventions where I usually slept on the floor in the 3rd District hospitality suite because I was so broke. Got out of party politics for the most part after Reagan was elected and I was busy in grad school and teaching.
I haven't rejoined the party yet, but am doing what I can to send the Chimp back to the zoo where he belongs.

14. Wauwatosa Democrat here! |
|
Born and raised in Chicago. Life-long Democratic and blue-collar union family. Moved to Milwaukee in the mid 80's chasing a girl and to go to school. Girl moved away and I just kinda stayed here. Eventually married a girl from Eau Claire. My Parents retired to the North Woods(tm). Grandparents followed them. Aunt and Uncle did same. Now we all live here in the Cheese State, except my 2 brothers, and they would like to eventually.
Still a Bears Fan, sorry...

I've lived all but a couple years of my life within 25 miles of Appleton, which has been home for nearly 30 years now. Found my politics in Madison in the late 60's - an exciting time down there. Whistle Ass has got me takin' to the streets again 35 years later. I'll be working for Feingold when the time comes this summer.

My family moved to central Wisconsin when I was seven. I guess that pretty much makes me a Wisconsinite. Although deep down, I still identify somewhat with the Yankee Upstate New Yorkers among whom my family tree is rooted. And by the way, it was my Grandfather that was mentioned in Sybylla's post on this tread.

I might as well use the established words of Wisconsin (or a least what people think) - similar to Canadians ending their sentences with "Ehh?".
Born and raised in Tosa, took an 11 year hiatus in Roselle, Illinois (liked it there too, was good to be Packer fan in the years we were there - Packers beat the Bears like 6 years in row), moved back here to Menomonee Falls.
Our current Village President (his name is Jefferson Davis - heehee, with an "r" behind his name) thinks he is a minny dubya! Since he has taken office from our previous Dem Village President, he has:
- had misappropriations of campaign money
- didn't pay his property taxes on time (claimed he was told he didn't have to pay when he was refinancing his house - yeah, right!)
- been accused of causing a "hostile work enviroment" by hassling women (especially those working for village from previous administration) which cost the village money to have an outside attorney look into it to possibly defend him
- held a "State of the Village" speech by paid invitation only, as a fund raiser for himself
- had police investigate two people who wrote negative LTTE about him of a little village paper claiming the people knew too much about him and that they were trying to "steal his identity". When police came back with a report that nothing was wrong or illegal, he didn't like the answer and the police chief was quoted as saying something to the effect that Davis wanted them to continue until he go the answer he was looking for (sound familiar?)
- and after all this was published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, regional section of the paper, he claimed the paper was disparaging the village and with taxpayer money, hired a PR person to give the village a better image (like he couldn't figure out it was HIM they were reporting on?)
and all this is just a little over a year in office!
So, I now will do anything to get current administration out of office (in Washington, in heavily republican Waukesha County, and of course, in my village).

Spent 37 years in a South Side of Milwaukee suburb active in the party and campaigns since McGovern.
Moved to Waukesha County and would think I was the last Dem on the face of the earth were it not for the internet and a church that focuses on social issues.

He is one of the most evil bastards in BFEE:puke::argh:
How come he hired Jerome Hauer from SAIC on 9-10-2001 and immediately after 9/11, but well in advance of the anthrax attacks, had people taking Cipro, and then, while innocent US Postal Service workers were kept standing around in a hot zone to listen to his bragging of his negotiating skills with Bayer (an I.G. Farben spin-off) for 300 million doses of Cipro, they were infected and some died, plus he's great pals with that eugenicist, Charles Murray-what a fascist pig imo.
