Bush to visit Oshkosh on Friday afternoon
The Oshkosh Northwestern reports this morning that Bush will be in Oshkosh on Friday. I'm sure there will be a counter protest and I will post deatils when available.

1. Don't underestimate the power of protest - and a good set of lungs
Bush was in Wausau last Thursday and we protested outside the venue. I just got this in my e-mail - the weasel heard us!

"I just learned from someone who hangs out with a Republican (imagine!) that she and others were upset because you could hear the protestors outside during Dubya's Wausau speech."

2. In that case, I'm THERE!
I can't wait to yell. Anyone got a good chant? Why does he have to poison the air twice here?

3. The Bush appearnace will be at Wittman airfield
I'm guessing at this venue they will be able to keep protestors far enough away so Bushie doesn't have to acknowledge that they exist.

4. Tentative plans for counter protest/subject to change
Plans still have to be finalized and, hopefully, we'll know more after tomorrow night (Wednesday). Bush will probably be speaking at the EAA Museum, which is very close to the airport. Time of rally is before Bush speaks because it's understandable that some folks may want to go to Appleton after it to see Kerry.

As for now...the press release is as follows:
"The Winnebago Peace and Justice Center has announced its intent to seek county lands to hold a free and nonviolent rally to show dissent against current Bush policies during the presidential visit. The rally is set to take place at the Wittman Regional Airport parking lot on Friday, October 15. The event will take place at 3:00pm and end around 5:00pm. The event will incorporate musicians, former soldiers, union leaders, local politicians and more.
The Winnebago Peace and Justice Center and its organizers have a long history in promoting active nonviolent dissent as a means to create change in the community of which we are striving to live in."

5. Due to Air Force One landing in Appleton
I've been told that there will be some buses available to take people to the Kerry rally after this counter-protest.

We will be meeting at:

Where: the former Auto Zone store (next to BP gas station)
1510 West South Park Drive, Oshkosh

When: 4:00 pm on Friday, October 15
We will then head to the site from there.

Winnebago Peace and Justice Center
321 Market St.
Oshkosh, WI 54901
