3. 7:30 am
Too early to tell if there was going to be a good turnout. But my son went at 11:30 and in my rural precinct it's looking pretty good for a primary.

5. I'm procrastinating
Why does it always have to be so fucking cold on election days? But I'm going to take my mom, worried about her with the roads and sidewalks still being really slick here in Waukesha. Last thing we need is a broken hip (heh, for either of us). I should go bundle up and do it now before the rest of the world gets off work.

even filling out a change in registration only took me 10 minutes. No lines but a nice regular flow of people coming in and out.

30. Same here.
We (me, hubby, and daughter) went in the early afternoon which, I would imagine, would be kind of a slow time. We were numbers 248,249, and 250 in a community of 2,000 people.

9. Done.
My polling place (Humboldt Park Pavilion, Milwaukee) was a zoo--big turnout. Controlled chaos, though. I was 151 in my ward, around noon (three wards vote at my polling place).

13. Think I was #374.
If I was #374 around 1:30, that means we had more than 150 votes between when eyesroll voted. (Thanks for voting for me baby! :*

Voting was neat, with being on the ballot for the first time! I'm running the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors 14th district -- the fighting 14th! Honestly, it was kind of anticlimactic to vote for myself. But voting for Obama, now that was exciting! (My god we're geeks...) Seriously though, when I voted for Kerry, I was like "Well, here goes nothing..." But now, it's exciting. I've had Obama picked from the start as my favorite. But that's another thread.

Light crowd there, but I went around 4PM, when it wasn't busy.

Joked with the ballot taker that there weren't any other offices on the ballot. Couldn't they have thrown in a few more cards to vote on? She said to wait until April.

34. Did my civic duty.
Wards 24 and 25 vote at the same place here in Waukesha, and at 7:35 pm it was around 1,200.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I had planned to write-in Al Gore, but decided tonight I would vote for

OBAMA.

P.S. Wife couldn't be bothered to vote. Preferred hanging out with the parents. :eyes:

Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 01:15 AM by mojowork_n
...getting out the vote, door to door, for Barrack and Michelle.

I thought I was going to be inside, making last minute phone calls, but that wasn't the assignment.

...I was at the Pabst Theater, yesterday, and that's what really convinced me that something good can come out of the Obama candidacy. Michelle Obama hit each and every note on the mark. Her delivery was warm, fluid, natural, passionate, and totally honest. The speech may have been practiced and well-rehearsed, but it wasn't a performance. It was more like a gift to the audience. Afterwards, two guys from a Japanese TV network stuck a microphone in my face, and it was clear to me, they had been completely won over, as well.

So, what's the media focus? Some Gray Ops sound editor manufactures a single lie (blipping one word from the audio, "really"), and *that's* the whole story -- the distortion.

...I finally got home tonight, and Tweety and KO were talking to some empty suit from Texas. Tweety asked the guy to "name one accomplishment of Barack Obama in the Senate." The guy fluffed it, couldn't come up with a precisely phrased, 8 second summary of bullet points, and Tweety chewed his leg off. "That's a problem," he kept repeating. "What are his accomplishments, even his supporter can't name a single one." He was like a terrier gnawing at a turkey drumstick.

The network called the Republican race over before they conceded Hillary's defeat, but Obama's landslide margin in Wisconsin is 3 points above McCain's total.

And unlike CNN, MSNBC is only reporting the relative percentages in each race. Overlooking the fact that, with 85% of the vote in, Obama got 528, 654 Wisconsin votes, and McCain received 187,755.

Talk about Orwellian. CNN is rounding that off, in their description, summarizing it as a "2 to 1" margin. They could have just as easily rounded up, it's 2.8 to 1.

39. I know, and he said, "This isn't 'Hardball', it's coverage of the election."
A reality check that Tweety himself flunked, that got to him because all of a sudden he looked at Keith, like, "Oh yeah, and I'm supposed to be sharing a microphone with you -- instead of just ranting maniacally. I hate when that happens."

I didn't have a clue what I was setting myself up for, when I walking up to the front table at the Pabst Theater, Monday, but it all worked out OK in the end.
