Crash kills man fleeing cops

He allegedly sped away at 100 mph after selling drugs to police informant

By Eric Litke
Sheboygan Press staff

A 51-year-old Sheboygan man died Wednesday of injuries suffered when his SUV crashed Tuesday night as he fled Sheboygan police at speeds of more than 100 mph, officials said.

Charles J. Drexler, whose address was not available, died about 2:15 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, said Sheboygan County Coroner David Leffin. The chase lasted less than a minute Tuesday night and began after he sold cocaine to a police informant, according to the Sheboygan Police Department.

1. At least no innocent people were hurt in the chase...
but technically, he was innocent in the supposed eyes of the law until he had his day in court.

I wonder about police chases and if / when they should take place.

2. I'm glad you bring that up. It seems to causing more of a
safty hazzard. Remeber when police would keep their gun with them off duty, because I think it was expected of them or maybe even a law. Maybe we should not expect the police to endanger themselve or others in these chases.
