OK, who felt the earthquake this AM?
CRAZY!! :scared:

I didn't. I was fast asleep and I guess it wasn't enough to wake me. Watching the the “The Great Earthquake of 2008” news coverage and they're reporting people as far north as Sheboygan feeling it.

A co-worker was in the office in Lake Country when it happened and sent this email:

All,
FYI…at 4:45am an earthquake in Kentucky shook buildings in Chicago and was felt in Milwaukee area.

I was working at my desk and felt the building shake. Was weird, I thought XXX or someone had come in and was messing with me by shaking my cubicle wall.

I heard a small bang or two like things may have fallen. So check your stuff.

6. we don't get quakes like they do
Geologically, Wisconsin is pretty tame. We're in the middle of a big stable area, and usually nothing much happens. We felt (or some of us did anyway; I did not) an earthquake hundreds of miles away. Don't worry about it.

5. i actually was just getting ready to get up at that time.
nothing registered with me.
maybe it woke me up and it was not enough for it to register as a cause for my being awake.

and besides
why should california have all the fun.

would be just my luck to be awake to "feel the earth move" and not notice it...

7. True story:
The day before, all three of my cats were acting very strangely. As I was talking with a friend, she said her dog was out of sorts all day long. I casually said, "well, maybe there's gonna be an earthquake or something..."

She called me the next day, and told me to stop predicting. :scared:

9. Oh, the stories I could tell you!
Several weeks ago, I was preaching about Jesus and the Woman at the Well. And I prayed, "Lord, send your living water upon all of us, and baptize us anew with your spirit." THAT SUNDAY NIGHT, a water hose burst in the sanctuary (we have a small indoor garden), and the water came out of the hose with the force of a pressure washer.

I got the call Monday morning, and two hours later, ServiceMaster was in da House, cleaning up after our spiritual baptism. We lost about 45 hymnals, and eight pews need to be refinished, as does the A-frame wall the water ricocheted off, etc...

The following Sunday, the text was of the blind man whom Jesus healed. During church (in the fellowship hall!), I told one member "Al, if your macular degeneration clears up tomorrow, please call me."

O8)

10. You might want to skip Genesis 19:24-25 if it's in the Lectionary this year...
Just a suggestion

12. southern Illinois . . .
I was down home in southern Illinois where I had a job interview Monday (cross fingers and think good thoughts for me!)and had a rather rude awakening from the earth quake. I didn't know what it was (like we have so many earthquakes in southern Illinois!) and thought the gas lines under the house had ruptured as I had not been to our home in several weeks. Once the house stopped shaking, I shook for another 20 minutes or so myself before I went back to bed and tried to sleep. The center of the earthquake was around Mt. Carmel Illinois about an hour away from me. My hubby was in Wisconsin at the time (and didn't feel a thing) but is originally from California so I told him I wished he had been there because he would have known what it was instantly. Southern Illinois is actually sitting on a pretty severe fault line, the New Madrid fault line which caused an earthquake many years ago that was so severe it caused the Mississipi River to run backwards. And you thought California was the place to be! I always thought we were safe in SI once tornado season passed, now something new to worry about!
