9. Tribune poll has Kerry up 3 there, CNN has Bush up 3
and CNN polled too many Repubs, as usual. I think it's about a dead heat, frankly. Bush was ahead there post-RNC, but he's lost most if not all of that lead.

6. key phrase from Time writer
"If he (Bush) takes it on November 2nd, it will be a big upset."

Not impossible. It will be close. But an unpopular GOP President like Bush winning Wisconsin that has voted DEM for 4 consecutive elections would be a massive upset. Unlikely IMO.

13. ticket splitting?
I was up in Wisconsin for a wedding this weekend and in driving from the Milwaukee area up through Fond du Lac and Ripon, I noticed a number of houses that had Feinstein lawn signs, but not Kerry (more houses had both, but the number that only had Feinstein was noticeable).

Is ticket-splitting a tradition in Wisconsin? Its hard to believe that a Feinstein voter would go for Bush. Naderites, perhaps? (Is Ralph on the ballot in WI?)

Difference in campaigns ...

Feingold had signs earlier and easier to get ....

Kerry signs were pretty hard to come by ...

By the way, Feingold => Wisconsin ... Feinstein => California

16. Actually,
there are a lot of Bush supporters who back Feingold. In some areas of the state, it isn't unusual to see a Feingold sign next to a Bush sign.

Kerry people support Feingold, and quite a few Bush people also support Feingold.

And, yes, Ralph Nader is on the WI ballot. As he should be....His people did the work and got the signatures.

Well, perhaps, but it turns out some were Republicans <surprise!>

"At least 16 Republican Party officers and volunteers from across Wisconsin were involved in a secretive signature drive to get presidential candidate Ralph Nader on the ballot by claiming to be supporters and keeping quiet about their GOP affiliations."

17. Swift Boad Ads took a huge toll in August...
The channels 9 and 7 viewing areas in Wausau were saturated heavily with the swill. But...for the amount spent, I'm not sure they stuck. Kerry's coming back!!

22. Just spent the weekend there...
Traveled from Denver with my siblings to see family.

All over Brookfield and Waukesha were huge */Crashcart signs. Very scary!

To regain my sanity I had to drive downtown and into central Racine to see "Boilermakers for Kerry" "SEIU for Kerry" etc.

I'm a little nervous, but if the Dems get the vote out, I think we'll be okay. My whole family has gone fundie, and I hope Wisconsin isn't one of those place where fundies didn't vote in 2000 and they get out this time.
