Milwaukee Dems help me with this... |
|
I have a friend... incredibly solid dude who wants to run for City alderman and is looking to make some connections. He claims he is Independent yet he agrees with us on everything. I really would like to bring him to some events in which he could meet some people to state his case and maybe encourage people to support him as I think he would be a definite asset to our city.
What suggestions or ideas do you guys have? And BTW, I don't rule out at all that he could be rather easily swayed to join the Democratic Party here... in fact it is my hopes that it will occur before he even campaigns.
I know this isn't so much for this upcoming ballot this year but in the very near future. This is sort of what most of us are talking about by finding upstanding candidates for future races who can win and this guy is really cool, smart, laid back and has a good charisma about him that gravitates people towards him.
What do you think?

2. I'm sure the County Dems will be glad to support him if he supports the Party. |
|
Too many locals show up to kiss up, then disappear thereafter -- or worse, trash the Party thereafter. If your friend is serious, he needs to make some commitments.
By the way, I hope you're well.! It's been too long...

I know I think I convinced him today that he is not as Independent (aka he's one of us) as he thought. He's new to the whole political process and willing to take the time to build connections, network and do some good work in the process. He's not the kind of person to burn bridges so I am fairly certain there will be no party trashing afterwards.
What I plan to do is have him meet certain people. He's been making some community leader connections on his own. He's not just coming in to do this and walk on everybody and he realizes it's a goal that will require time, trust and some work but he's a good guy and someone I'd like to think has a solid future as a leader of the party.
As for me I'm doing well. How have you been?
I'll definitely have to make one of these drinking liberally events. Even though I don't drink much it would still be fun.

4. I don't drink much either, but I have to get to DL one of these days myself. |

I'm doing well, too, thanks. It's summertime and the living is easy, as they say.
