Plans for a DU picnic
Okay, I've come up with some plans:
My back yard here in Waukesha (please PM me for address)
Saturday August 30 starting at 3 pm.
Kids and family absolutely welcome. We have a basketball hoop, a trampoline and video games so there's a bunch of stuff for the kids to do. I've got a fire pit for evening time and will provide the supplies for s'mores.
I feel really bad about asking this (but I'm sort of famously in the poor house) but I'm asking that everyone bring a dish (salad, desert, fruit or beverages)to pass and also that everyone bring their own meat/chicken/fish/veggie burger/etc. to grill. I've got 2 grills, I'm going to make several sides, a watermelon, sweet corn on the grill, iced tea and fresh lemonade and other treats. I've got some chairs but probably not enough for everyone so if you have lawn chairs it would be much appreciated if you could bring a couple.

I hope you can come and bring your kids -- mine will be there (12 and 15 yo girls). If I could get a rough count of how many people I would appreciate it if you could RSVP in a reply to this post. I'm also thinking of extending the invitation to Drinking Liberally regulars, what do you guys think about that?

4. Last year...
Last year Connonym's party was totally out of control. What time was it when the cops arrived?

8. I just realized that although I only joined DU 2 weeks before you
I have outposted you nearly 7000:1. That could be construed as pathetic couldn't it?

9. Damn kids! Get off my lawn!
I was on the Internet before it was even called the Internet! Our modems were 300 baud on a good day! Up hill, both ways, half-duplex! We didn't need any windows! We had a backspace key and we were grateful for it, even though it didn't even erase the paper!

12. I'll be there, assuming I'm in town...
I don't think I'm going anywhere, but I usually find out from Kim ten minutes before we leave!

13. I think we can...
We may have to leave early to shuttle the kiddo to her mom (but then perhaps swing back on the way home). We have chairs and can bring food.

16. Wish I could be there
but live in Michigan each summer until after Labor Day.

Am pleased that there are activists in Waukesha - and hope Obama opens an office there so I can volunteer there (and get a yard sign or two) in the Fall.

18. we've got a bigger office in Waukesha than any of the last 4 elections
with several full-time staff instead of the usual 1 paid staff member. It's really organized this year. When you get back in town let me know and I'll give you the details on the location and stuff (it's in downtown) and I didn't know there was another Waukesha DUer besides me and Jimbo, we'll have to meet for coffee or something :)

19. Good to hear
Was familiar with the Kerry office - presume Obama's is there or close by - will check it out upon my return. And, of course, sign up for various duties.

Will be in town in the morning. Don't have plans yet for the rest of the day, wouldn't think we'd be going anywhere.
