4. Is Springsteen going to be there too?
I just heard Springsteen was going to be in Wisconsin with Kerry on Thursday.

This is going to be a VERY busy week for brand-new police chief Noble Wray! We got 80,000+ people coming here for Halloween weekend, too! He's going to have to buy a few hundred more yellow cones, I'd bet!

10. 411 please
I will be traveling from Baraboo with a carful of teenagers who are thrilled to be going to Madison to see Kerry. Any hints on where to park, what buses to take, best route, where to be when... would be greatly appreciated since we are not intimately familiar with Madison. Is there a park and ride lot?

11. If you don't get any better suggestions,
I'd park at the - I think it's a Copps grocery store parking lot that is just across the street from the Madison Metro West Transfer Point. Look for the Madison Metro website, and they'll have maps for you to download. They'll have a ton of routes that go downtown. This would give you a lot of options for routes that will provide your return trip, since MANY of them end up back at the WTP one way or another.

The grocery store is at the north end of the litle strip mall that is on the northwest corner of the intersection of Whitney Way and Odana Road. The transfer point is sort of behind the grocery store and across the street.

I'd give you more details, but I'm on my way out the door!

14. coming to madtown from baraboo
if coming in on Hwy 13--there is a Sherman Plaze with a bus stop--park and ride--The 5 or 3 go right up to the capitol. run every half hour.

or find the bus stops along Washington (which is 151) (coming in from I-94)--most go the the Capitol.

Good luck.

13. Also try Hilldale Mall parking lot on University Ave.
Vote_Clark's post refers to the transfer point just off Whitney Way. If you're coming on the Beltline (12/18), get off on Whitney Way, head north, and take a left on Tokay Blvd, park in the Copps lot and walk across the street.

You can also park in the Hilldale Mall lot, on University Ave, because lots of buses run past there to the downtown. Just ask the driver if s/he goes anywhere near State Street, and you can walk up to the Capitol.

Have fun, you lucky dogs.

16. WooHoooooooooo!!!
Just got home from phonebanking, training for ACT driving and training for the rally!

This will be quick.

The stage is set up on W. Wash near Bedford Street, so the crowd will stretch up the hill toward the capitol (reversed from what I was first told). Keep that in mind when getting off busses or being dropped off by friends.

BRING your cell phone, to participate in the largest phone-bank known to man!

We will have a helluva day. Be prepared to spend all day - there's entertainment after the rally, for the people who hang around to vote.

I can't wait to see all of you there! :) Look for me - I'll be one of the hundreds of dorky people with balloons attached to her head (or elsewhere)! Try to pick me out of the crowd of 60,000! :hi:

17. Wish I could make it
I've got a friend with a second floor balcony on W. Washington and Bedford. Balcony seating, six-pack of beer, and Bruce Springsteen. Definitely worth skipping classes!

18. ...and a
BATHROOM, I'll bet, too! :D

It will be a great day! I'm so excited, even though I'll probably be stuck working the crowd a million miles away from the stage - that's ok. I just know I'll be really invigorated by the whole thing.

19. Rally has been moved a few blocks
I go this email from a friend.. she said it was Yahoo news.
Also said there is more of a sloop--so people should see stage better.

It's been moved to West Wash between Bedford and Broom, they say.

the rally just ended here in madtown with an early reported almost 100,000 in attendance! great to see and hear such support here in a "swing state". local air america affiliate , 92.1 THE MIC,
http://www.themic921.com/main.html
broadcast the entire speech, which started shortly after 1pm, live. due to the anticipated size of crowd i chose to listen on radio and was surprised to hear him open and close the speech with
Make It Happen
as that is the title of my best-written song - see www.weavils.com
now, how do i get this song in his hands in the next few days?

...anyways it is nice to see madison becoming outspoken politically again ;)

PS - and, yes, 'the boss' (not cheney but bruce) was indeed here

21. Thanks
Thanks go out to Vote Clark and the many others who put in lots of hours to make the Kerry rally a huge success in Madison. Good work! Now, if you can do that for voter turnout, you should definitely be in Kerry's cabinet somewhere.
