BBV- can someone help me with Wisconsin???
PLEASE see this thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2639056

Bev Harris is asking for help with all of the states, and while I can't commit to doing the entire state, I can do some work on it. So is there another Wisconsinite who can help me out with the data collection that we need???

Thanks!

3. YEAY!!!
I just found the 2000 results (of course in PDF) and was going to start transferring them to an Excel file.

Do you want to start with Adams County for 2004 and we'll keep in touch via PM?

I'll also keep my eyes open for other recruits. I'm SUPPOSED to be working, but I just couldn't ignore the call for action! I'll post to Bev's thread, to say that we'll be covering Wisconsin.

Thanks so much!

5. I can help some VCIW...
I'm supposed to be working too, but I hear ya. I have spoken in the past with Kevin Kennedy, WI Elections Board Chair, and he seems like a good guy. Let me know what I can do.

6. Wisconsin county results are on the Journal Sentinel website
here http://network.ap.org/dynamic/files/elections/2004/general/by_county/pres/WI.html?SITE=WIMILELN&SECTION=POLITICS

If you click the right links, you can also view the other races by county as well.

According to the State Elections Board, the offical results won't be posted on their website until they are certified on Dec. 1.

Just thought I'd chime in. I'm leaving now for a couple of hours or I'd offer to help too. Post what you find here and I'll be back to see if there is anything else I can do.

7. UPDATE
If you go to http://www.invisibleida.com/ you'll see the format that is being requested. Since WI voters don't register by party, we can't provide the bonus information.

In short, what is wanted is spreadsheet version of ALL of the returns, precinct by precinct for 2000 and 2004. It will be a pain in the ass, because there are so many precincts.

I have my spreadsheet set up with column headings as follows:
County
Precinct
bush
Kerry
Badnarik
Cobb
Nader
Harris
Brown

These names are obviously for the 2004 results.

Then for the counties that don't have their results online, we'll have to call the elections boards to see if we can get the results faxed, emailed or WHATEVERED to us.

eek, if you start at the beginning of the alphabet, with Adams, and I start at the end, then when others volunteer, we can assign them counties, as well.

Also be sure to keep track of Bev's thread (linked in my original post), because she may answer questions as they arise.

10. List of municipal clerks contact info
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 02:31 PM by sybylla
here http://elections.state.wi.us/municipalclerkslist.txt

and a list of counties with results on line with links to county websites here
http://elections.state.wi.us/Election%20Night%20Results%20websites%202004.htm

On edit: the county clerks will most likely have all the results for the entire county either online or by other means so you shouldn't have to contact each municipality unless a county clerk tells you that you have to.

11. I'm going through those
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 02:30 PM by Vote_Clark_In_WI
collecting results precinct by precinct. Edited to clarify that the counties provide the p by p info - I don't have to contact each municipality. Some are available online, some I am having emailed or faxed to me.

Do you have time to help with any of this? I am working backwards through the counties, but it will take a long time, even after I have collected all of the data. I'll then have to enter data for 3540 precints, one at a time. Few of the counties have the info available in Excel format - most is PDF.

Looks like I'll have a few hours to give you a hand. What can I do? E-mail a blank spreadsheet (so import is easier on you) to me in excel or .csv format and the counties you'd like me to work on.

you're wonderful! PM me with your email address (I can't do attachments to emails through DU) and I'll send you a PDF file. You could print that up at home to take to school and enter in Excel.

I'll include as many additional details as I can in my email, but make sure you let me know if you still have questions.

I'll pm you now too, to make sure you see this response!

Thanks! :yourock:

17. Yeah, been trying to find somewhere to plug into
Do you still need some help with this? Sounds like just straight compilation of election returns? Curious as to what use will be made of this... I did read about how they're looking for discrepancies in registrations and vote totals, but since we don't register by party here or in advance of election, then what discrepancies are they looking for....

Asking both bc of ,my own curiousity and also if I round up people to help then they'll want to know some details.

thankx!

19. Here's some info straight from the Mayor of Milw
Dear ***********:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the City of Milwaukee Election
Commission. I appreciate your patience in awaiting a response.

My office has discussed your inquiry with the Election Commission.
Currently, the Executive Director and the Election Services Manager of the Election Commission each have the current password to the City's central election computer. There is no record from the previous Executive Director as to who had the password during her tenure.

The Election Commission was not clear as to what certification numbers you are referring to. Finally, Wisconsin state law does not require the Election Commission to conduct audits on election day.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further concerns.

Sincerely,

Tom Barrett
Mayor

and my email to which he responded...

Dear Mr. Barrett,

Thank you for the response. I am still waiting for a
response regarding my request from the **** *****
rally at ********* Park that I posed to you directly.
You asked that your aide take my information, but I
have yet to hear from her. Should I need to file an
open records request, I will do so.

I am asking for those withing the Election Office, and
any contractors who currently have the password to the
central election computer plus those who had the
password in the past. I also would like to know what
certification numbers are used for any software &
firmware. I would also like to know how many precints
and/or wards are randomly audited on election night.

Thank you in advance,

--------------------------------------------------------

Why would Milw be concerned about BBV. The central computer counts the votes, and the outgoing election commissioner was recently replaced by the new mayor under less than ideal circumstances less than a year before a major presidential election. If anybody was vulnerable to bribery by a political party, or voting machine manufacturer it would have been her (Julietta Henry). I was also told by someone in Henry's office before the turnover that an ES&S representative had the password to the central computer. Also Wisconsin state law does not allow citizens to ask for a recount in elections. Without random audits of certain precints, how do we really know the results are accurate?
