Wisconsin Contracts with Accenture to Create Voter Lists -THIS IS BAD!!!
October 23, 2004
Wisconsin officials are currently in negotiations with Accenture to create the state's first list of registered voters.

This project is estimated to cost more than $20,000,000 in its first phase alone. Accenture, the powerful information management company created computer software that allowed Florida officials to keep track of 9 million voters. (HUH?)

Accenture created this new computer software because of the consequences of the 2000 Presidential Election. Accenture will work with state and local clerks to create a system of registering and keeping track of 4 million residents who can legally vote. The list of registered voters has requirements that need to be adhered to to make it a success.

...the list has to link to information on driver's licenses, death certificates, and other similar instruments. In addition, the list has the daunting task of keeping track of voters from Milwaukee.

Hopefully, the list will fix potential fraud problems that leaders from both political parties fear will happen in the future. The system will catch voters who are registered twice, convicted felons who are not permitted to vote, and voters with two different addresses. Other companies that were in the running for this government contract, Covansys and EDS, are not expected to protest Wisconsin awarding the contract to Accenture.

This is really scary...

2. Accenture = Arthur Anderson
We know how well that went. And what citizen would trust this group if they knew that. Corporations should not be allowed to change their names to hide corruption.

13. "did not commit any fraud"
Andersen Consulting (Accenture) did not commit the Enron Fraud.

I wouldn't be so sure they are lilly white otherwise, having worked for them in the past.

help support companies that do not pay any taxes and get tax breaks

10. Oh of course
They are pleasant people, therefore honest. Or, you're doing business with them, therefore they're honest. You don't have one part of a firm corrupt and the other part lily white, just doesn't work that way.

9. Man, I was sure
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 02:28 PM by Lefta Dissenter
that once you did your time/probation/all other obligations, you were free to vote again. I'll look for that site...

OK, here it is:

http://www.doj.state.wi.us/news/nr102504_PL.asp

If you have been convicted of a crime other than a felony, treason or bribery, you have the right to vote unconditionally. If you have been convicted of a felony, treason or bribery but have served your complete sentence (including probation or parole), you also have the right to vote. <§§ 6.03(1)(b) and 304.078>

So, by "convicted felons who are not allowed to vote..." in the op, they could be referring to felons who are still on probation, etc... but of course, that's what they would try to say in Florida, too, I'm sure... :eyes:

Wondering if this is something we should start lobbying for oversight for?

16. How do you do that?
I think we need to get the word out to the public, but not sure how to present the issue! I will do more digging on this deal, and see if I can find more about who was involved.

It troubles me that these recent BIG deals have been sort of shuffled in through the back door while the general public has been preoccupied; for example, the WI election board made the decision to contract with ES&S for our electronic voting machines in November of 2001 --right after 9/11 and the anthrax nightmare. (ES&S began wooing Wis. Election board in October, 2001). Now we see this Accenture deal was pushed through right before this election, while we were again distracted

15. Accenture types virtually took over the company I worked for
As a group they're awful, arrogant folks who are adept at pretending they know what they're talking about and steamrolling over anyone who disagrees with them.

A couple years ago a parody of an Accenture Ad was making the rounds. In the ad the company was called "Accidenture" and "helping your business go out of business is our only business".
