1. Here in Wisconsin, I'll vote for him!
I think he has run winning campaigns over the past 3 Senate terms, and handily fought off a Repug challenge in Wisconsin again in '04. I think he has some broad appeal across party lines.

Bottom line: If he runs, I'll work on his campaign. He's great!

2. If Russ is running I want in! he is one of my hero's.
He would live up to the Wisconsin tradition of fightin Bob. I don't always agree with him but always feel as if he has integrity.

11. Pardon my sour grapes attitude
but what has he done besides #1 vote against the Patriot Act, and #2 work with McCain on the campaign finance reform bill (which didnt seem to make an impact this election)? I am disgusted and very disappointed in him for his COMPLETE lack of support for Boxer and Tubbs-Jones last week. I also do not forget that he voted to accept Ashcroft as Homeland Security director... I am questioning the integrity of his commitment to represent us.

3. I think he'd be a very good president. But, there is a very real problem
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 08:14 PM by blm
that could overshadow his competence and his skills. By the time Bush is done imposing his will on other nations, the world's Muslims will be more than royally pissed and I doubt they would have the forebearance to trust and welcome a Jewish president.

it's screwed up and shouldn't be part of the picture at all, but, if we're in the Holy War Bush wants by then, there's no getting around there will be repercussions in many areas.

4. Sadly, many Americans would not have
the ability to trust and welcome a Jewish president. Unfair and ignorant as that seems, I am afraid it is true.

5. I'm really, really embarrassed to say this, but
I've voted for him three times and didn't realize until this very moment that he was Jewish!

(Fiengold, duh!)

On reflection, I guess I'm not that embarrassed and am kind of proud that I don't view people by their race, religion, etc. but their actions and deeds.

Run Russ! You've got my vote!

& the Draft Feingold Yahoo! group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Feingold08), too.

Hey, if the Clark fans can do it! ;)

It's been mentioned quite a bit here, and I think it's a great idea.

7. Not a good idea
I am a Wisconsinite and though I always vote for him, I am not enthralled. He cherishes his maverick image - BUT - passed Ashcroft with toadying statements. Also, really piggybacked onto McCain for the MF campaign finance deal and I cannot think of one other major thing he has done.

He is best as a Senator - going for Pres.(which he is) tells me his ego is taller than he is and that he is hopelessly unrealistic about the state of this sorry nation - short, Jewish guys don't have a "prayer" in our current environment.

Lieberman didn't "seem" Jewish to many due to his looks and his orthodox ways, which separated him from the common stereotype of a quasi-secular Jew whose looks may remind people of their underlying bigotry - even though they would deny it ---- until they got in the voting booth.

If we go with him, we will be crushed by "Pretty Boy" Hagel, who I think will get the Rethug nod.

9. Gang, I love Feingold (well less after the election bit on the 6th)
but I do not think a Senator will EVER win the White House! Americans are too stupid to understand how you can vote for something, and then against something.

I'd rather see him run for Governor first, then run for POTUS. But he better do something to fix the phony elections first or he won't even be Senator next time.

10. I suspect there's something to this rumor
The local advisory committees are being reactivated. I got a phone call on Tuesday about it. In addition, the organizers are trying to EXPAND the membership of the committees.....

it's the old rule of political organization: start from your strength and work outward .

As for whether I would support a run for Presidency.......I think I'll remain "agnostic" about it for the time being....I can see pluses and minuses.....not terribly excited about it......

12. I'd surely vote for him.
I think he's a good senator, but I'm not sure about any broad national appeal. As much as I hate to say it, his being Jewish might be a problem. It shouldn't be but that may not be reality.

13. I would like him to be President but...
don't think it will happen.

Name the last Senator that became President and wasn't a Governor, VP or war hero?
