Adversity doesn't stop Bush foes[]/b
WASHINGTON - After a 14-hour bus ride, a long subway trip, two hours waiting in a security line and lingering long after in the cold air, Tracey Sperko was frustrated.
Sperko knew a thing about adversity and disappointment: The Milwaukee Gulf War veteran was the local director of Veterans for Kerry. But upon her arrival in Washington, she was shocked at the massive police presence and hostility of those around her.
"We accomplished what we set out to do, even with a little bit of adversity," Sperko said after the inaugural parade, where she protested the policies of President Bush. "It's an intimidating atmosphere. You never know who's around you or next to you."
Sperko was one of about 110 Wisconsinites who climbed aboard three buses and traveled all night to make it to Washington in time to turn their backs on Bush. They were part of a national effort to use nonviolent methods to make it clear that Bush does not have the support of a wide swath of his constituents.

2. I met Tracey at the People's Legislature earlier this month |

She's very impressive in person - a real go-getter as they say. If I'd had the time and money I'd have joined her right there. I'm thrilled to see Tracey and the group getting good press.
