Heard something puzzling about TABOR today
While dropping off my daughter's absentee ballot request today, I was chatting with the person who arranges elections in the village, and she mentioned that she had heard from the Milwaukee County Election commission that there might be a TABOR question on the April ballot (statewide). This sounds strange, because the Constitution requires it to pass in the legislature twice before it can go to the voters.

I called the county election commission, and the person I spoke with didn't know about this but said the supervisor would call on Monday when she returned. I'll post what I find out.

The village official said she had also heard something about a Milwaukee County referendum but had no details on that. I'll ask the county administrator about that too.

If this turns out to be true, someone is playing games. I was told that questions for the ballot have to be submitted within 45 days before an election, which isn't really that much time. They may think they can keep it undercover until the required date to outfox the opposition. We'll see how this turns out.

3. Likely a reference to county referendum
Likely a reference to county referendum forcing state to pay for state mandates. IIRC, something like 42 counties will have referendi on this subject.

4. I was just going to suggest this possibility as well

I believe it was proposed by the Counties Association as a response to the threats of shared revenue cuts and TABOR.

:dunce: edited because I don't have my shit together.

6. Update
The supervisor of the county election commission called back today and said to her knowledge there was no statewide question slated for the April ballot. So I don't know where the village official's information came from.

By the way, I have dealt with both the Milwaukee City and County election commisions, and the County seems much more forthcoming and helpful than the City.
