Anyone going to or participating in the Badger State Winter Games?
Plenty of snow and cold so nothing is canceled this year!

I'm curling in the women's league - we have a whole five teams, up from four last year.

1. That's really cool!
Good luck to you and your team....

I signed up for a geezer relay team a couple of years ago but we never made it out of the bar.......sigh....now I wish I had actually run...

I may enter this year in either the 400m or 800m....can't be too many competing in my age group.....

2. Good luck! When are the games?
Where? Where will you compete?

I'm a summer sport person...but the summer games coincide with a competition I attend every year. I might do it this year though...my horse is a fabulous jumper and we might just clean up :)

4. Marshfield and Wausau curling clubs
both clubs are on the fair grounds in their respective cities. I don't know what the park is called in Marshfield but it's Marathon park in Wausau - they usually have the big kick off for the winter games there.

3. I'm trying two events:
"Avoid the Icy Spots and Dog Crap" and "Entertain Two Kids under the Age of Five for a Whole Week Indoors."

Should be a challenge, but I feel I'm up for it!

5. Open ceremonies have moved - I curl in Marshfield on Fri. at 4

New this year, on Friday February 4, 2005, the Opening Ceremony presented by Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, will take place at the Cedar Creek Village, located next to Dome Sports, 608 Creske Avenue, Mosinee (Village of Rothschild), I39/Bus. Hwy. 51, Exit 185 (just minutes south of Wausau). Festivities begin at 5:30: free food, scavenger hunt, a bonfire, horse and wagon rides, a 5 foot tall snow sculpture of a badger and a hot air balloon on display, as well as games inside Dome Sports. At 7:00 pm, don't miss the Opening Ceremony: Parade of Athletes lead by Governor Jim Doyle and Honorary Athlete Dick Kloepfer, presentation of the Volunteer of the Year, Spirit of the Games recipient and the Honorary Athlete, Speedskating medals awarded by Governor Doyle, the lighting of the torch, and fireworks.

Following the Opening Ceremony, Blind Side will be playing inside the dome for those over 21 years of age. Karaoke will take place there Saturday night. Cedar Creek Cinema will be showing Miracle and Cool Runnings following the Opening Ceremony and throughout the weekend. Friday and Saturday showings are at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm. Admission is free.
