State Dems going after Rep. Green

GREEN WATCH
DAY 36
Washington DC - Just how far will Congressman Mark Green go to avoid taking a position on President George W. Bush’s proposals to slash Social Security benefits?

So far, Congressman Green has skipped town hall meetings, refused to answer constituent inquiries on where he stands on the privatization plan, and has even skipped an event with the President -- all in an effort to avoid talking about the risky Social Security plan.

But the real question remains, why is Congressman Green hiding out and having trouble deciding his position?

Perhaps Congressman Green should remember what he said in 2000 when he
endorsed the same plan that is now the Bush plan.

Or, next time he is standing with his friend Congressman Paul Ryan, he should say (or someone should ask) whether he supports Ryan's Social Security plan.

It’s been 36 days since the President announced his plan to slash Social Security benefits, and what has been Mark Green’s most definitive comment to date?

"I haven't had much of an opportunity to look and see what that actually means." Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, May 8, 2005

Apparently Mark Green is still too overwhelmed by his job running for Governor to do the job Wisconsin taxpayers are paying him for – be a Congressman.

They won't likely get much attention from the press in Green's district, but his indecision might capture the attention of a couple of media sources across the state in light of his campaign for governor.

Something like this belongs in an ad, not in a press release that will get ignored by everyone but the choir.

1. Green hardly, if ever responds...
at least, not until AFTER a decision and vote has already been made.

I just don't get how people seem enamored by this idiot. Bush-bot.

2. The "Green Machine" (ick) goes on tour - this is your chance
http://www.thewheelerreport.com/releases/June05/June3/0603greentour.PDF
According to this press release from his campaign, Green is getting in an RV he dubbed the Green Machine and plans to hit all 72 counties in 100 days.

Apparently, he will be in Wood, Clark, Eau Claire, Marathon, Brown and Calumet Counties. Interesting, though, that his website - http://www.votemarkgreen.com - doesn't say anything about exactly where he will be. No schedule is posted. Seems kind of odd for a campaign that's trying to build name recognition and get a little press outside his district. Could Mark Green have some reason to protect that information?
