1. I thought Racine was bigger than Green Bay.

2. Isn't Green Bay the size of Dayton, Ohio?
They've got some of the finest football fans in the country though.

4. GB has a population of 103,000+
When you factor in all the neighbors within 10 miles it's a lot more.

5. Best Fans Ever?
Yeah, you got that right! Local papers up here in Wisconsin are useless anyway. Absolutely nothing noteworthy worldwise.

6. The last voice of the left in Green bay is silenced.
One last GREAT (!!!) editorial from Curt Anderson here:
http://www.greenbaynewschron.com/opinion/five.html

Some gems:

"The Press-Gazette has a Doctor Jekyll/Mr. Hyde complex, which means it will regularly print editorial opinions that castigate Republican legislators, and then fully support the miscreants at election time. The P-G has never been able to admit in print that the Republican Party has put the state into such debt that now Doyle is robbing Peter to pay for former governor Tommy Thompson’s excesses, notably in highway construction and repairs that don’t seem to be necessary."

<snip>

"Right-wingers have labeled the paper as “liberal” because it is balanced. If you have not already caught on to the twist of reason here, you may be one of the suckers that bought that line of malarkey. "

<snip>

"For some reason, Green Bay, a blue-collar town if there ever was one, has lurched to the political right, almost as though those voters think that the right wing is looking out for their best interests. Nothing could be further from the truth, of course. The right wing is only interested in cleaning your wallet, much as a lothario is looking to score with your sister."

<snip>

"On another note, since we are talking about people who believe in fairy tales, it should be noted that the current national slide downhill into religious zealotry will not be good for America."

7. Very nice editorial
I imagine he will be sorely missed. This is indeed sad news.

Hopefully, another newspaper will consider challenging the fraud that is Gannett. I would think Green Bay is big enough to attract an indy at least.

9. Great Editorials...
It's too bad the paper is going down for the count to Gannett's Spin Machine.

Honestly we need more papers to divide up the readership in the city more and give people an option. All Gannett papers try to seem balanced with occasional sways to the left in their editorials the ratio is still two or three to one and it's not really a fair playing field.
