I never thought I'd ever be writing this, especially during a month when we've celebrated the 150th birthday anniversary of "Fighting Bob" La Follette.
But let's be honest. Our neighbor to the south, Illinois - yes, that state where they've hidden money in shoeboxes and governors have taken turns going to jail - is doing a better job these days enacting legislation in the public interest than once squeaky clean Wisconsin.
It hurts to say that, but it has become reality.
Illinois has been out front getting prescription drug price breaks for its elderly, its public utility commission has done a better job keeping down electric rates (Illinois residential customers have actually seen a 19.5 percent decrease in the last six years) and the Legislature has enacted a number of reforms aimed at protecting consumers from unscrupulous companies.

Leave it to Dave Zweifel and his progressive paper to tell it like it is. Way to shame the pukes. Problem is, this kind of stuff doesn't very often get printed outside of Madison.
