1. It's not really clear that this issue has a high enough profile |
|
in Parkdale/High Park to have a huge sway. NDP candidate Peggy Nash gave her a run for her money last election and seems to be running a strong campaign this time around, so Bulte might lose anyway. One can certainly hope.

I didn't really mean that that issue alone would sway the election, but last time it was close enough that Bulte can't afford to lose votes, and she has lost some votes over this. This is the riding I'm in and I've talked to people who changed their minds about Bulte or, at least, were undecided and that was the deciding factor.

3. Good to hear, neighbour. |

Sorry if I'm coming across as a wet blanket about it. Even beyond ideology and party identification issues, I think Ms. Nash is a great woman and would do a phenomenal job as our MP.
Perhaps if there's some sort of a protest at the fundraiser next week, it'll get the issue even more press. Hopefully all the little things will add up: this issue, Nash's work with the Ukranian election winning favour with the Ukranian community around here, 18 more months of Bulte not really doing shit (including finding a home in the riding), etc. Also last time, Neil Spiegel, the Green candidate, was pretty impressive and perhaps siphoned some votes from the NDP. I don't know about the guy they got now.

4. Why try to find meaning... |

In this election, the Liberals and NDP are so desparate, it's hard to tell them from the Tories.
It would be nice if the Tories got these two to show more of their real colours--might go a longway to building a real progressive movement in this country for a change.

I'm also in Parkdale-High Park. I voted last week because I'm going to be the central poll supervisor on election day at St Vincent de Paul Church, and that's not my poll. What poll do you vote at?
