There's a phony "solution" about to occur on Softwood |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 01:06 PM by glarius
David Frum (former Bush speech writer) of American Enterprise Institute said on CBC Newsworld's "The Hour" last night, that now that there's a Conservative (Harper) in office, they, the A.E.I. had voted among their members to insist that the U.S.A pay Canada the billions of dollars owed to us because of the softwood dispute. Frum admitted that Canada had won all the judgements and the U.S.A. was wrong to not comply with the rulings! In case someone doesn't know, David Frum is the son of the late CBC anchorwoman Barbara Frum. He is now the biggest right-wing shill the Bush government has. I keep seeing him on our TV pretending he has Canada's interests at heart while he promotes the right-wing agenda, including Harper.
P.S...American Enterprise Institute is a right-wing think tank.

1. Roger Noriega, also from AEI, said the opposite last night. |
|
He stated Bush won't do anything just because there is a CON in Ottawa. He said, "Bush is not into sentiment".

12. It's not entirely up to Bush though, is it? |
|
Why do you assume that lame duck idiot pulls the strings on this?

2. Ah, so they were just being mean, petty, vindictive, and small-minded. |
|
That explains everything.
And not to criticize, but I wish people would stop using the the phrase "right-wing think tank". The terms "right wing" and "think" mutually exclusive.

4. What I meant, simply, was |
|
that if you think, you're not a right-winger, and if you're a right-winger, you don't think. Thus I see "right-wing think tank" as a contradiction in terms. But that's just how I see it; the term is well-known, but I just don't like it.

11. It's a right wing tank, then? |
|
Perhaps "right-wing drunk tank" could be used instead.

5. Please explain the phoney part. |
|
Forgive me if it's apparent; I've just come off of 8 straight hours of tedious, taxing brainwork.

6. It's not "phony" per-say, as it is the Bushites... |
|
who are willing to make a conservative government look good. A popular Conservative government is what Bush wants in Canada and every other country in the world for that matter.

7. What I mean is there is no need for a "solution" since it has already |
|
been decided by the arbitration people who decided in Canada's favour every time. When the U.S.A. says they need to negotiate and find a solution, that is what's phony.

or real ... or whatever you want to call it. I want to see those dollars returned to softwood mills. I happen to live in an area that's been hit pretty damn hard by all of this; my husband was off work for 2 years due to this. I don't care which political party puts an end to it, so long as it ends. Getting those mills running again and employing people is far more important than any political aspect.

14. Hell - Reagan made a deal with the Iranians to release the hostages. |
|
But only after the election which Carter lost.
Why would the neocons in Canada be any different?
