HALIFAX (CP) - For a premier who often epitomized the phrase "dull as dishwater," Nova Scotia's John Hamm received a flashy sendoff Friday that included a personal tribute from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Harper praised Hamm's integrity, saying if all politicians were as upstanding, the newly elected federal Conservative government wouldn't need to bring in a new ethics and accountability law.
Former U.S. ambassador Paul Cellucci, one of Hamm's personal friends, also came to Halifax to deliver best wishes to the soft-spoken premier.
Foreign Affairs Minister {b}Peter MacKay{/b}, a Nova Scotia MP and voting delegate at the weekend convention, {b]said he's aware of the discussions{/b} and would welcome Hamm into the position.
