Screaming Lizzie says, "All sales are final, silly colonists! All units guaranteed until put in water!"

2. to be fair
She warned them that installing a fireplace in the sub, while making it "cozy" was not a good idea.

5. I'm so glad they got out ok
I served on three sub tenders during my navy career...and worked on a lot of submarines (all of which are now decommed). They are a dangerous place to be trapped in a fire...so I thank God the men got out...

Got to tour a Brit sub back in the 80's up in Groton and while it looked to be in good shape, I doubt the quality assurance programs they had were as stringent as ours.

They sure had plenty of beer though! :-)

6. Smokeboats
I served on the last of the WWII diesel-electric fleet boats. Fire and/or chlorine in the battery well was a scary thought, but the most we ever did was burn up an electric motor or short out a connection box. Some sparks and smoke, but nothing like the Canadians just experienced. I miss the liberty calls in Halifax watching those Canucks put away the LaBotts ale....good times.

8. I know it's Tony's fault
I just wanted to be able to say "Screaming Lizzie."

I should have added "And this is my dog Spot:"

10. just a technicality

Since she's the queen of Canada, Liz selling the sub to us would be Liz selling it to herself.

Let's blame the real culprits. The other part of the executive branch -- the part with the actual power, and the submarines. The "administration" -- the PM, cabinet and bureaucracy. That would be Tony Blair and his associates and hirees.
