Account of recent sit-in protest & arrests at Emerson's Vancouver office
Posted in the forum at rabble.ca

The officer in charge (VPD) did everything in his power to mediate a solution between the protesters and David Emerson's political staff, over the phone.

The protesters agreed to a compromise whereby they would leave the office IF Mr. Emerson agreed to a time and date for a peaceful, respectful, meeting with a small group of constituents.

Mr. Emerson, via his political or chief of staff, declined to agree to this mediated compromise.

In other words, Emerson gave his constituents the finger, again.

In reaction to unwillingness of David Emerson to agree to a compromise, to even speak with his constituents assembled in his office over the phone, and his failure to suggest an alternative solution, a number of protesters felt it was their civic duty to take their protest to the next logical step and they declined to leave the office, agreed to be arrested and agreed to voluntarily leave the office. They were charged with Assault by Trespass and immediately released on their on recognisance outside the office.

The post detailing the events at the sit-in was by Micheal Watkins (an anti-Emerson Conservative) who has his own blog campaign to get Emerson to resign as well, see www.mikewatkins.net
