Liberal leadership hopefuls take aim at Harper
EDMONTON — Federal Liberal leadership hopefuls are pledging to work together to bring down Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservatives.

Some potential and declared candidates to become Canada's new Liberal leader say they've all got to co-operate to defeat the Conservative government in Ottawa.

More than a dozen potential leadership candidates took to an Edmonton stage to begin presenting their credentials to Liberal party members, gathered for the provincial party's convention.

Bob Rae, former Ontario NDP premier and likely candidate, said Liberals have to work together and not fight among themselves in order to win.

Can just see the wagons forming a circle.

But everyone is waiting for the gunslinger to walk in and save the day. It is so easy, no thinking, just obvious things that everyone stands up for. (Spell check doesn't correct for grammar.)

1. quite the quip from Rae:
Striding to the middle of the stage when it was his turn to make an opening statement in session with 16 aspirants, Mr. Rae, the former NDP Premier of Ontario, quipped: "Thank you, I'm much more comfortable in the middle."

...

Mr. Rae deftly confronted his own political baggage in his short remarks — not only his short time as a Liberal, but his much-criticized tenure as premier from 1990 to 1995.

"My approach is very simple. I agree with Billie Holiday, who said, 'I've been rich, and I've been poor, and rich is better,'" he said.

Liberals, you're welcome to him. And if you have the good nonsense to elect him, this should be fun.
