Loonie hits highest level since 1978
The Canadian dollar hit its highest intraday level in 28 years Friday and is on track for its strongest showing in almost three years.

Friday's gains came after a report showed the Canadian economy grew for the fifth month in a row and on expectations interest rates in Canada will keep rising

With a currency on track for its biggest one-day monthly gain since May, 2003, many investors are left scratching their heads about where the loonie goes from here. Some say parity, others say it's ripe for a decline.

1. Technically speaking, it's the highest it's ever been.
We didn't have loonies until 1987. Paper money before that.
