Neocons exploit "excessive taxation" myth |
|
The cleverness of the Harper neocons is once again shown in the attack on "excessive taxation" contained in Flaherty's budget speech.
By what standards are Canadians "overtaxed"?
Compared to most western countries, our taxes are quite average. They are only "excessive" in relation to the US, where low taxation goes hand in hand with low quality social services.
But the Harperites know that everyone will cheer when they cut taxes, and that the Opposition parties won't have the balls to take on the myth of over-taxation.
These tax cuts will then set the stage for the real neocon mission -- which is cutting back government services and programs.
Frankly, I can't believe how so many people don't see how smart these guys are, and how well they are setting things up to get the majority they need to implement their right-wing agenda.

2. How do you reconcile this with the Liberals' promise of a big tax cut... |
|
in the last election?
There was only one national party in the last election whose fiscal policy wasn't predicated on this "excessive taxation" myth: the NDP.
